No offense meant...but do you work for lasermax or something? You even capitalize the company name. Every laser thread that's up is you repping lasermax products and providing backlinks to their site.

If you're from the mfg, the more the better...but Id be careful about refuting the quality of any other laser manufacturer.

Does the LaserMax unit have an NSN? because the CT unit does:

Military NSN: 5855-01-460-9157

I don't have the CTC on my 442 yet, but I'm getting there (currently buying things that might end up on the AWB list if we elect a Democrat).

I do have them on my 1911. I like the fact that when my finger is parallel with the frame that it blocks the laser. You only need the laser on target for a moment and blocking it with your finger lets you "blink it" on / off as you are targeting (you don;t give away your position as easily). I think it's more of a feature than a defect. Its really only a slight movement of the finger to allow the beam to pass, so it works really well.

I also have the lasermax guide rod system on my XD. It works, but it's a manual operation to activate the laser. If I knew then what I know now, I would have gone with the CTC instead. The CTC is also much brighter than the lasermax. The ONLY issue is that the CTC is constant on while the lasermax is strobe. There is a lot of debate around whether strobe is better or not. I'm undecided on the debate, but definately decided on the CTC product.

YMMV,

JMO, but I'm not big on the whole laser thing. As far as my J-frame is concerned it's a close range gun, and I don't see the point of having a laser system on it. Maybe when I’m older and my vision begins to fade, but I would rather be confident in my skills with the gun in question rather than rely on yet another piece of technology.

My opinion differs. I shoot 200 - 300 rounds a week. I consider myself relatively proficient at the range. I've taken some training course and even shot IDPA years ago (looking to get back into it). In a SHTF situation, between tunnel vision, BAR etc. it's insurance to me that "see red dot - bullet go where red dot is" is what I need to think about. I also believe that it aids in accuracy to the point that it reduces the chance of a miss hitting an innocent. I don't buy in to the "just seeing a laser trained on you could prevent a shooting". Maybe its true, and I haven't lived it yet, but my thinking is that if it comes down to drawing my weapon to defend myself or family, things are happening so fast and so out of control, the decision to shoot has already been made before my weapon clears the holster.

True enough and all the more reason for me why I don't want to be concerned with drawing my weapon and having to reorganize my concentration within a millisecond because my laser isn't working. My major issue with lasers is through my experience, which is limited, they require a vastly different mind set than aiming through conventional sights. Trying to adjust from one to another, which IMO should be a major consideration, and being proficient with both scenarios is beyond my comfort zone of what a SD weapon should be. I'm not talking about SHTF scenario where I may have multiple options at my disposal, but rather just one in a day to day scenario.
To each his own.

Just a fan, man. If i can answer a question and post my opinion, then why not - right?

Everyone has their own opinion on quality, I was just stating my own.

Visible red laser systems on pistols are primarily for low light applications. In broad daylight you are better off using your iron sights.

Totally agreed.

Also, with my experience with the lazergrips, they are really idiot proof in operation. You don't need to think about turning them on, as soon as you grip you gun normally they are on. When you let off, the lazer shuts off. It dosn't require any thought whatsoever.

Also I've found the ergonomice on the CT lazergrips are phenominal. The rubber gripped ones fit my hands like a golve, and seem to be VERY well made.

If I ever get a revolver it's gonna have lazergrips put on it.

Long story short, i've never seen anyone with lazergrips that was not 110% happy with them.

Dude, you read my mind.

This guy pimps the lazermax like they're goin out of style.

When I buy my XD. I'm getting the lazermax guiderod for it. FOr an automatic, it's the only way to go. The crimson trage grip model sticks out really far, looks stupid, and isn't comfortable in my hand.

However, for the revolver the lazermax system just looks stupid as hell. I know it has the benefit of being closer to the bore, and allowing you to use your own grips, but it looks really, really, really dumb.

I have no doubts if CT didn't have the patents, they would just put it in the grip. This seems like their second-rate solution to get into the revolver market.

Just my oppinion.
