Default EOTECH Pros / Cons?

Though I own one I havent used it yet, Ive heard some complaints from some users, but curious what your opinions are.

My M16 wears an EOTech and I have no real complaints whatsoever. As far as I'm concerned it is by far the best bang for the buck when compared to other popular optics (aimpoint, trijicon).

I guess the only "complaint" I could have is that it doesn't do magnification (unless you mount something else behind it), but for what I do (50 feet) that's hardly an issue.

The eotech is self-contained, you do not need iron sights with it, however it will co-witness with iron sights. On my gun I have a standard front sight and a flip-up backup iron sight in the rear.

Is placement on the rail just a matter of personal preference?

I see some with it towards the rear, some midway and a few Ive seen fairly close to the end of their rail towards the front, almost where a front iron would be.

I'm not sure of their reasons but the farther away you are from the eotech, the larger the circle/dot aiming hologram gets. I put mine just hanging over the end of my flat-top on top of the handguards slightly, this gives me room between my read BUIS and the back of the eotech.

Ihave them on a couple of different guns and they usually end up either on the first notch from the end of the FT rail or fully on the FF handguard. Ther former in the pictured example; the Troy BUIS co-witness perfectly.

You'll have trouble shooting longer ranges if the power is way up. The higher the power the blurrier the reticle is. The Eotech is hands down, the best CQ fighting optic. The ACOG is for getting out there.
