absolutely. but they still take a second to deploy (assuming you have a folding one).
don't get me wrong...i love my eotech...i just wish it didn't shut itself off after 8 hours. if you use the AR as a home defense weapon and have it by your bed and sleep for more than 8 hours, it will have shut itself off before you wake up. and from a military perspective...out in the field for more than 8 hours...you'd have to make sure to adjust it at least once every 8 hours or it would shut itself off. it's actually not really that big of a deal...but it is also pointless as far as i can tell. as i mentioned before, battery life is no issue. and i've kept my eotech on for days on end by just adjusting it every now and then, so there doesn't seem to be a problem with leaving it on continuously, so why on earth have it shut itself off? or at least, why not let the user override that shut off? |

Because they still don't have anywhere near the battery life of 3rd and 4th gen aimpoints.

they should at least make that be an option. as it is now, you can have it shut itself off after either 4 hours or 8 hours depending on how you turn it on. imho, they should make the options be either shut itself off after 4 hours or not at all. |

More to the point is the fact that they needed to do something to conserve battery power for .mil units using them in combat theaters. Resupply can be problematic even in this day and age of hyper mobility.

I did not vote in the poll because it is all down to preference. All of these optics have their ups and downs. I have a 551 but I am gonna be getting rid of it, because, well, the batteries just do not last very long. But, the sight itself is great, fast, nice follow ups, etc. IN terms if simplicity and ease of use though, cannot go wrong with the Trijicon Reflex. Because, as someone else said. No battieries, which is one less thing that will go tits up.

I have an M3 and have shot eotechs. I actually prefer the eotech. I feel too blinded by my m3. I always feel like it is blocking my view from everything except what is passing through the glass. The eotech feels a little less intrusive to the sight path for me. I do prefer the reticle in my M3 better as it doesn't have to contest with bright sunlight like the eotech. I don't think you could go wrong with either. I voted for 553 just because I'm already toting around CR123's for the surefire.
