ACOG is magnified. Generally 4X sometimes more or less.

you can change the color from red/green and the intensity so your perfect in every light level. And it sits up a bit higher which I like, not much but a little. It is very solid I'd recommend it to anyone but it doesn't have anything real special on it, only 1x magnification I believe.

the bushnell one uses batteries A ACOG does not

a acog uses a radioactive material called tritium same stuff used in night sites

and the acog uses higher grade materials all around

Don't forget that the Acog is about 10 times the price of the Bushnell. But for competition the Bushnell is good, just don't forget extra batteries. The Acog is a excellent sight for the money but the Troops need them more then we do. Don't get me wrong I would love to get an Acog. They are the best sight for a combat or competition firearm. I mounted the Bushnell on my Stag AR-15. If you purchase one make sure you get the new model with the open sights mounted on top. Mine works get ,so far I have it sighted in for 100 yards.

If I buy an ACOG it would be the TA01NSN-TRD.... But its not cheap at all...

http://www.trijicon.com/user/parts/p...4&categoryID=3

The other option I am considering is a EOTECH with a magnifier which is a little less than the ACOG

I looked at the bushnell trophy reddot but I would like to have the capability to have accuracy out to 300-500 yards..... And the ACOG or EOTECH/Magnifier would do a much better job...

These choices are much more expensive than the Bushnell though...

Getsome you are correct the Bushnell has no magnifier in it. I figure it is good for 100 to maybe 200 yards. Some people might be able to hit a 300 yard target with it but I would get a scope for over 150 yards. Acog and the EOTECH would do a much better job at those ranges. I looked at the price of the TA01NSN-TRD and it is more then what I paid for my AR-15.
