Default anyone installing tritium sights on an XD in here

just for your information, ill tell you guys my story, this is my third set of truglo sights I put on my XD, but I think I figured out why, I was just installing them using a punch, Im thinking when Im using a punch it was breaking the vial of trituim inside, it was always the front sight that went out on me and thats right where you have to hit to install them, so I bought a MGW sight tool to put them on, let me tell you it works great, put my slide in the jig tightened it up and moved it right into place, I lined the tool center marks up to start, and I have to say there dam near dead on, I have a lasermax Uni laser installed and it still lines up so it should be right there when I test it. if anyone is from berks county and wants a set put on let me know and we can meet up to install them. no sence in spending $100 on a tool and only using it once, I might have to buy another XD and sights just to use my tool again

I have often warned folks about those TFO's breaking. I also don't like how long the sights are for the pistol.

To me, installing sights is the only "drawback" I've noticed with the XD series.

I personally would have paid someone to install the TFO's versus buying a sight pusher that you will only use a handful of times. To me it's more cost effective to pay a gunshop that already has the tools.

Im sure ill use it a couple more times, I do plan on getting a XD40 SC yet so right there would be 50 bucks if I paid some one to put them on since they get 25 bucks here to put sights on, and my friend has 2 XDs that now since I have the tool Im purty sure that he'll get sights for on his so with 4 sets getting put on that pays for the tool and I have it to adjust them at any time now.

I put meprolight night sights on my XD sub-compact with a brass punch and hammer in a padded vice. The front was easy for me and the rear sight was a Bitch to get off. But overall not a horrible experience. They are a really nice sight set.

If you ever want to sell your sight tool let me know. You do have to be a little extra careful with the TFO’s .

I dont plan on ever getting rid of it, nice little tool to have around, it was $100 bucks to buy new, concidering I screwed up 2 sets of TFOs at 90 bucks a pair I ate 180 bucks so buying the tool is a lot better idea, or you could pay a shop to do them for you, but I like to do things myself. even if I screw things up thats how you learn by doing things.

Looks like I must be missing something in my store.

If I sell the sights I install them free.

I have all the tools except this one. Guess I will buy one now Thanks.

no shop in there right mind would put sights on an XD for free, getting the stock ones out are a pain in the A$$. I thought when I had to cut mine out I was nuts, but here I found out im not the only one to do that.

Let us know when you get it in. I still need tritiums on my XD45C and XD9SC. I definitely want them on before Center Axis Relock class so I can start getting used to them and how they hold up (1,000 rounds in 2 days isn't a bad durability test).
