You will not get a response from the AG. They only give 'clarifications' and 'advice' to police dept's and such. Not citizens.
The legalities of OC are solidly established as well as recognized/supported by two supreme court rulings. Why not read this summary: www.paopencarry.org/info.html And then read the laws themselves as well as court opinion and case law (all linked from above) As for revocation of LTCF for OC. It would not be a legal revocation. It would not hold up under the guidelines set forth in the law (PA TITLE 18, CH61, § 6109. "Licenses", paragraph "i") because it is a) not illegal, therfor not punishable by a sentence that would disqual you from owning a gun (assuming your within the law, IE: not in a prohibited place or without a LTCF in a vehicle or Philla, etc) b) Is not a mental disorder c) Not dangerous to yourself or others There is also no stipulation in law that a LTCF holder conceal their firearm. The condition simply doesn't exist. What it comes down to is that old rumors are hard to break. Some sheriff's dept LTCF FAQ" pages I've researched lately say you can't carry in bars and banks, etc although that has NEVER been law in PA You have the right idea, but your not going to get what your looking for that easy. No offense, but your a little late to the party If it was as easy as writing a letter to the AG we would already have the response to post up... long time ago

For proof, we have a comment from Commonwealth vs. Hawkins; (4) In all parts of Pennsylvania, persons who are licensed may carry concealed firearms. 18 Pa.C.S. § 6108. Except in Philadelphia, firearms may be carried openly without a license. See Ortiz v. Commonwealth, ___ Pa. ___, ___, 681 A.2d 152, 155 (1996) (only in Philadelphia must a person obtain a license for carrying a firearm whether it is unconcealed or concealed; in other parts of the Commonwealth, unconcealed firearms do not require a license). Persons with a license "may" carry concealed. In Philly, you need a license to carry concealed "or" openly. Gee, according to the "knowledgable" person.....this can't be, since once you have a license you can no longer carry openly! |

Woo woo! I didn't know frank was gonna come stir *THIS* pot..
I'm from Delaware County. I OC on weekends a lot- much as I love my rights, I don't love getting kicked out of school or fired from work, so most weekdays are out. I've been to Newtown Square, Media (on a saturday night.. what a story), marple, manoa shopping center.. WHY we OC is a topic for another thread. Thing is, it can be done, and done publicly, and that's where the worth of it is.

turkeyhoagie - glad to have another OC'r in Delaware County!
9-14 - had a little fun last night OC'ing - got back from OH and my wife wanted a Wawa coffee, so we walked the dog down to Wawa in Wayne. I was chatting with some other customers about why only 1 person on a register on a Friday night - speculating that the student workers went back to college leaving them short. We then started discussing the regular clerks and who we try to avoid :-) as they are pretty slow. I got into the long line behind 2 of our local 'gangsta wannabe' youths (either 15 or 16) who saw the 1911 on my hip and suddenly got real quiet. They must not have recognized me as I live around the corner from them and they go to Radnor high, same as my kids. While I continued talking to the people behind me - I could hear them whispering - "is he a cop - must be - he's strapped - should we get the ciggies - no wait til he's gone then get back in line...." Since they never addressed me, I didn't speak to them. I'm not LEO and whether they had fake ID to get cigarettes is not my concern. I just continued a pleasant conversation with the people behind me in line till I left. |

I am new to this forum and was curious as to the ability of an Illinois citizen to use his Pennsylvania PLCF permit while visiting the state.I have shown it in Missouri when questioned at a safety stop and had no problems,I was just curious as to how a Pennsylvania LEO may react to my permit or is it common for out of state individuals to carry there.

9-15 uneventful OC'in again - Keystone Motors in Devon (twice), Wawa in Paoli, Wawa in Wayne, a good 2 hour walk of the dog through South Wayne and North Wayne (got a couple of dirty looks in North Wayne - not sure if one lady was more concerned that my dog might poop on her lawn or that I had a 1911 on my hip), lunch at Theresa's in Wayne, dinner at Mino in Frazer and finally food shopping in Genaurdi's in St. Davids.

I am not the only person our sheriff told that he would take away our LTCF if we got caught open carrying. I would not personally OC unless I had a good amount of money to fight in court, because the sheriff was not joking around I had him on the phone for 10 mins and he just basically told me it doesn't matter if it's legal or not we don't want OC'ing and we will do whatever it takes to not have OC a common practice...I thought these guys were in law enforcement not opinion enforcement.
