lprgcFrank, glad to see you post your journal over here.
As mentioned on the other bd, I'll look you up in Nov when I'm down that way. Maybe we can do an OC lunch/dinner.

My primary reason for OC is to be an ambassador for the Bill of Rights and the Second Amendment in particular. I'm an NRA instructor and also use OC as a way to advocate for appropriate training in firearms safety, marksmanship and competition (mostly IDPA and the Appleseed Program for Rifle marksmanship).

The Radnor area has lots of soccer moms. I live across the street from a township park where lots of soccer moms congregate on the weekends.

I think it's hard to mistake me for a LEO when I'm in shorts, flip flops & a tee shirt with a 1911 on my hip walking a 90lb American Bulldog around Wayne.

That's good to know, although not useful for myself. I was told by the sheriff that I can not open carry in Philadelphia, and to keep it concealed. Perhaps he was referring to looking out for my own good in forms of how the Philadelphia police handle the situation, instead of the actual law.

I was referring to off duty cop, not in uniform. Again, it's good that some choose to OC, and there are benefits to it, but in a suburban area like this, "I" just feel as though "I" am better off carrying concealed. I was just wondering what your reason was, and as you just stated, just because it is your right (which is more than enough of a reason).

Yes, OC is not for everyone. And in areas such as philla it will take some work to get people to accept it. Expect to be hassled if OC'ing in philla. Wrong, right or indifferent... it will likely happen.
I'm in an area that I expect some resistance, but so far have not gotten. People care less than I though they might in the more urban parts of luzerne/lackawanna counties.

You'll find that a common occurrence by many sheriffs, officers, etc. many will tell you even that it's illegal to open carry in the state period.

My county sheriff gave me a paper with a bunch of rules, 2 were no carry in bars, and open carry gets license revoked

i actually oc around my property in Philly a few times and had no problems. i didn't know it was legal until i started rooting through this website. i always thought i had a ccp and just looked at it and i have a ltcf. i live on a busy street around the corner from the prisons and constantly have cops driving down my street and i never had one of them stop. i know people in this city are up in arms over guns but i have a right to defend my property and my family so i usually have my gun on me when I'm doing work around the house and yard.
