It's not my intent to judge, so if it seems that way I apologize; just be careful.
not to hijack the thread here, but just to interject a point on that - looking at it another way, if it were my neighborhood, especially one that I had lived in for a long time and wasn't looking to move for any other reason - I shouldn't be the one to leave, they should. That's how neighborhoods just continue to go down. Building friendships with neighbors and strengthening communities together can make them leave, not force you out.

Hey thirtyonebravo,

I do see your point, and through the years I've seen many dealers come and go! And several of the drug houses on my street were raided by the narcotics squad in recent years. One of the biggest problems in my neighborhood are the landlords who rent out their units to just anybody who comes into town without performing background checks.

Michele,

Yes I am older and armed, but I dunno about wiser though! Hehehe.

Back to open carry. . .

I spent the morning hiking around my local SGL with my Glock 30 on my hip. Even passed a Game Warden out on the trail. He saw my gun, and said nothing about it. Then I went to Walmart to get some ammo, and stopped by the Borough office to pick up some garbage bags. All of this time there was no hassle, and I didn't notice any concern from those around me.

I think that I live in a good area for OC, as I don't think people around here are quick to panic. I wish I would see more OC in this area. Maybe I should organize an OC event here in Carlisle... hmm, I just might do that...

Well, I finally saw it with my own eyes... a gentleman wearing a cowboy hat was standing in line in the Greensburg(Westmoreland Co.)W-Mart and although I was too far away to tell the model, he was carrying a "black gun" in a black leather holster.

I pointed it out to my wife as though I had just spotted bigfoot! "Uh-huh... that's nice, what kind of cookies do you want?"
LOL. (I went with the chocolate chip - of course )

Hell, when I OC around my own house, the girlfriend goes into a panic, and she "likes" guns. ahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I wonder if she will call the police on me, or do a "citizen's arrest"

I OC only when I am driving because with the seatbelt I don't want to be trying to get the shirt up to get at the gun. When I get out of the car I cover it.

Last week I got out of the car and forgot to cover it. I must have wander in and out of three stores before I noticed it. No one said a thing. However one man gave me the thumbs up sign and had a big grin. When he did I wonder why.

Well last night I was walking the pooch, (Emptymag still won't walk my dog) and behind me in the distance was a man. He started walking very briskly towards us. I don't think he was able to see I was walking a dog. My dog is mostly black and very hard to see in the dark. I kind of kept turning to see how close he was coming. Well he got a little too close for my liking, by that time he saw I was walking a big dog. He didn't seem to care. So I kind of turned around sideways, quietly pulled my .9mm from the holster and racked the slide and shoved the gun in my waist. He crossed the street and started to walk real slow, then turned down the next block towards the creek. I don't think he saw the gun it was too dark and my .9mm is black, but I know he heard the crack of the slide in the extremely quiet night, or at least saw the motion of the racking. I hope I scared him off. What an asshole. I would think most would be afraid of someone walking a giant German Shepherd. I know I would be. The curious thing about this all was, I was so calm, no rapid heartbeat, no sweating, no running through "what if" thoughts. When I came back in the house, I was a little shaken up. I think it was because, I actually prepared myself, without hesitation. I think I handled the situation well. And quietly. I didn't hold the gun up, or even in my hand, but I was ready. And that scares me. It scares me to have all that power. A gun is power. But I think here my true power was my good common sense and my eyes and ears.

Is it not normal for people to be out walking around you? I get passed and pass people all the time while out walking. Why did this seem out of place to you?

It seemed out of place to me because my neighborhood is very desolate and dark at night. Besides i'm female. Its a natural paranoia. We are the weaker sex.
Also, for a man to walk faster and faster towards a woman at night seemed a little strange to me. Scary.
Besides the fact that I was walking a very large dog, normally when someone is walking a dog, I cross the street or walk very far away from them because I don't want to upset the dog (cause him to be on high alert) or the person for that matter.
I think he was looking for trouble.
Why would he walk to the creek?
If he wasn't looking for trouble, why did he take the right to the creek? I find that very curious.
If nothing else, he learned his lesson, not really a good idea to approach strange women in the middle of the night, unless you have trouble on your mind.
Would you deliberately walk faster and faster towards a strange woman in the dark for no reason except to 'pass her'? If she let her pooch off the leash, would you say to yourself, "I might be scaring her"?
Do I sound paranoid or even ridiculous ?
Try for a second to envision this.
Am I safe to assume that your a man?
