The absence of a law that says "You can't OC", is what makes it legal.

Did that make any sense?
I asked this, because some state have odd laws. For instance, in VA, you can't carry concealed in establishment which alcohol is being served, yet you can carry open. SO i was just wondering.

WHat you said make sence tho

OK, rather than turning this into another thread about where you can carry and such, try a search and you'll find all kids of info here.
I did. And like so many others, I too was unaware of the OC "policy" and now that I know more about it (education is the key here) I have started trying it myself.

I enjoy seeing these OC "stories".

One quick clarification
What EM and P85 said is correct.
However, there are statutory restrictions on OC. You can not OC in a vehicle or a city of the first class unless you have a LTCF.
And you can't OC in prohibited places (just like CC).

A good summary, with statutes quoted, is in the PA Gun Rights Flyer stickied at the top of the forum:

It would be great if he had even more support, especially from fellow firearm owners.
You did a decent thing gnbrotz .
The first two paragraphs actually contain all of the info anyone would need to send a note except the zip code:

Merlony Colaco
Molly Pitcher Mini Mart
13640 Molly Pitcher Highway
Greencastle, PA 17225

I'm just dipping my toes in the OC waters myself. Posted an update today as a mater of fact.

Keep us updated with how you are received by the community as you OC.
Interesting. I gave you one for sharing your experience right before I made my post!

As I mentioned, I do hope to continue the converstion on subsequent visits. If he gives the pamphlet a look, he'll begin to see the 'details' of being legally armed in PA. I would hope that any responsible adult verifies this type of info before practicing it themselves, rather than strapping on a gun just because a stranger said it was ok.

He hasn't asked me any further questions, but I continue to be a regular customer, as an ongoing endorsement of his actions to defend his property.

I stop at least once a week, and always OC. I also don't have to pre-pay for gas. He just gives me a wave and turns on the pump.
