Default Motorcycle/dirtbike OC Encounter.

Other than the horrible use of grammar, this isn't as eventful as one might seem. I just couldn't think of a better title. (The original title read "What the fuck do you have a gun for?") but we can't have profanity in thread titles.

As I have stated in the past, when in public, I CC, but when on my motorcycle, on private property, or in rural areas, I OC. I only CC in public because I don't want to be detained by police or management to come ask me to leave. I am at said store for a reason, and I want to carry out that reason without hassle. When I'm just out and about, I couldn't care any less what people think.......I really, really don't. It actually angers me more to read these stores on here than it does in real life encounters.....weird, go figure.

Anyway, I got PLENTY of stares as usual. Just people talking to me, and instead of looking me in the eye/face, they are staring at my gun. People equate walking around with an exposed sidearm like your walking around with your wang hanging out. "You should cover that up"

Then, I'm out riding. There are a group of people gathered in the usual place, so I take all my gear off and my 92FS is in my shoulder holster. Most everyone knows I have it. There is a newbie there. An older guy, drunk, short, pot -gutted, very arrogant attitude. I am talking to this guy for I don't know how long and he never said a word. Then, out of nowhere, "What the fuck do you have a gun for". And to me, it was like saying "you have a black shirt on" I was not emotionally stirred in the least, and short of looking like a psycho, I'm perfectly content to not say anything. But I figured I better at least say something. So, I cocked an attitude back and looked straight at him and said "Why not?" He of course did not know what to say and got the typical drawn -back look , paused for a second and says "well thats a pretty damn big gun" Now I'm thinking, what a god damn moron, whats the difference how big it is? So at this point, I'm barely even paying attention to this tard and I'm not even giving him the respect of even looking at him when addressing him and said, "its a 9mm, its a standard sized gun" Then he says "well, I guess no one will fuck you off" And at t his point, I'm just wanting this completely retarded question to be over. We are literally off in the middle of the god damn woods, and your questioning why I have a firearm, I thought. This is where a conversation/argument can get messy, so trying to figure out what to say, all the other guys that were standing there just started to laugh. That broke the conversation up in my book, reengaging it would just be trolling. So, I counted that a blessing and completely left it go. He didn't say another word the entire time.

I had a few more comments through out the day, but nothing eventful. Just typical stuff to expect when OC'ing.

That's what it felt like the first couple times I OCed.

I hear you. The cops can't legally tell me not to OC,but I don't want to deal with store managers,Wally greeters & mall ninjas.

I'm starting to believe that guns are retard magnets. Seems as of late anytime I open carry some village is deprived of their idiot due to his/her badgering me of my gun, meanwhile the local LEO's just smile and wave.

My problems when I see somebody carrying a gun are:

1. I always want to know what model it is and how it shoots.

2. I'd love to be able to take it, unload it, dry fire, etc.

3. I am curious about accuracy, recoil, penetration, etc.

I engaged a cop on duty while riding a streetcar in New Orleans about his and the city's choice of side arms. He was more conversive in a pleasant way than you might imagine.

Now, about the OP. As soon as I got to this part

I think I would have ignored him.

And finally, as long as I have my LTCF I will CC over OC. Just seems like less hassle. AND, the element of surprise is on my side.

Good post - thanks!

Whoever changed the title to my thread.

I quoted somebody, you changed the 'F word' to "heck", that's not what was said, please change it again to something more appropriate to the story at hand. Such as; "Motorcycle OC carry incident" , or something.

No, I have a dual sport bike....a street legal dirt bike. They use to be referred to as "enduros", but that title has changed. An enduro, now, is a motocross bike with lights, electric start, odometer, kickstand, etc. A dirtbike is a non high performance bike, made for casual off road riding. Usually has lights and etc. A dual sport bike is basically a dirtbike thats all legalized for the road. And of course, everyone knows what a street bike is.

So after that little moto-education. I was in a woods setting. There are alot of trails and hill climbs in the area I was at.

Its great machine to have. I can leave from my garage in town. Ride down the road, I see a trail to explore...I go.

Hokkmike:

Yeah, I know. The guy "drinking and riding" was questioning me on having a firearm, safely secured in a holster....go figure.

I have to take offence to that, you bring your dual-sport out on the trail with me and my "non high performance bike, made for casual off road riding" and we will see whos bike is made to putt putt around and whos can thread the trail and climb the hills.

The dual sports have thier place no doubt, but they are a hodgepodge of street and dirt, therefore they do neather street or dirt as well as a streetbike does street or a dirtbike does dirt.

Sure, I would ride with you, but this discussion isnt about rider skill, its about the fact that you indicated that a standard dirt bike was "a low performance" machine.
