Question Open Carry in a Pa Park

Any one have a link handy on carrying in a state park, like lets say Big Pocono State Park?

Any experiences?

I know it borders with PA state gameland and I don't want to run a foul of the hunting laws. I do not hunt, just hike but would preffer to open carry my 1911. I'm sure my AR would look more out of place then a side arm (in a shoulder holster).

Thanks for visiting our forum! If you ever plan to return you should consider quickly registering for a forum account, especially if you're in Pennsylvania. It's simple to do and best of all free. Once registered you'll be able to participate in our discussions and keep up to date on issues important to Pennsylvania firearm owners!

Thumbs down Re: Open Carry in a Pa Park

Here's the link:
http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/statepar...wrulesregs.pdf

Look at 11.215 Weapons and hunting:

The following activities are prohibited without written permission of the
Department:
(4) Possessing an uncased device, or uncasing a device, including a firearm,
archery equipment or slingshot, that is capable of discharging or propelling a
projectile, except as provided in paragraph (2) or (7), or except in the owner's
building on a leased campsite, in the owner's residence, or in the owner's vehicle
or trailer.
(5) Failing to keep a device, including a firearm, archery equipment or
slingshot, that is capable of discharging or propelling a projectile, in the owner's
building on a leased campsite, in the owner's residence or in the owner's vehicle
or trailer.

Long story short...forget about carrying in a State Park. Also, if you do a search you will find a wealth of info. This topic has been done to death both here and on just about every other gun discussion board there is!

Agreed. Closing this thread. This has been discussed at great length on this site and many others. Use the site's search tool or try Google.
