Default Interesting LEO encounter...

Of the good kind.

I was in the Mid Valley area north of Scranton today; didn't even notice which department it was , but I'm thinking Blakely or Olyphant...

I had gassed up , then run into the c-store after I was in the drugstore acorss the street.

Just coming back out to my car, officer pulls up and says "I just talked to a woman coming out of the drugstore that was terrified that you had a gun. I told her I'd say a few words to you..."

I'm think "Oh, shit, here it comes..."

He touches two fingers to the brim of his hat and says "Carry on!".

I said thanks, have a great day, and he said "My conscience is clear now, I kept my word to granny! See ya later"...and off he went.

It was a good day.

1.) he should have told granny you were doing nothing illegal.

2.) he really shouldn't have said anything to you just because of granny...

other then that sounds like a good time.

Kudos to the officer. He kept the peace with everyone. He knew that you did nothing wrong , and set "grannys" Mind at peace. Although, he really didnt have any right to ask you , seems like he was just putting grannys mind at ease and let you know that he is another officer who knows the LAW

Sounds like you were in Dickson City to me, only place around here with a gas station, convenience store and drug store right near each other like that.. That cop was probably praying you weren't PA Patriot, lol.

Cool story. Thanks for sharing.

I think I would have been inclined to ask for his card in order to send a letter of commendation to his chief. And gave him a flyer and in particular noting the link to PAFOA

How do we know he did not? Have you ever informed a, lets just say "stubborn", elderly woman of some fact that had entirely no effect on her opinion or chosen course of action?
I know I sure have. Anyone with a grandma should know what I'm talking about I think it entirely possible he did tell her that. THen, in an attempt to be on his way, after hearing more than his fill of why "granny" didn't like it, he said he would "have a few words with him" to get her out of his ear.
Can't say I would fault him in that situation. Some folks are beyond rational, maybe she was one of them.
Point being, we do not know what transpired with granny.

Maybe he didn't do it "because of" granny.
Maybe he did it because he thought the OP would appreciate his story.

Come to think of it, how do we know there even was a "granny"?
Maybe he just thought it was a fun way to josh someone he wanted to give a nod of approval to. Cops can have a sense of humor too after all

Stones for what? As above... If granny exists, we have no idea what he said to her.
Or are you privy to info we do not have?

Actually, he can ask you anything he wants.

Well said, Pa Patriot. While we disagree sometimes, I'll be first to give you the nod as well.

Everyone has to right to speak to anyone at anytime no matter what hat they wear. It's that whole pesky first amendment thing.
