Default thanks and hello

Hello All,
Would like to thank everyone for the valuable information i have picked up on this site reading the threads. i learned of this site from the HUNTINGPA website. i purchased a new handgun recently for self defense and was inrterested in aquiring a permit. i live here in york county outside of Delta. after reading and reaserching i went yesterday to the courthouse to get mine. all the tips and information helped make it very easy. i have been a avid hunter for thirty years and own several handguns and long guns but never bothered with a permit in the past. but with crime and the economy tanking i felt it prudent to aquire a more sensible weapon for home defense purposes. i bought the SA XDM 40. cal and love it. hopefully in the future i can learn more from the ladies and gentleman of this site.

for those that are looking i was at the new dicks in east york and they had plenty odf ammo on the shelves in bulk and box.

That's because their prices are so high.

Gander Mountain (west york) also has plenty of ammo at outrageous prices.
BTW - I'm shooting the XD45. I'm seeing a LOT of people from York County lately. I'm thinking we are getting numbers to support a great turnout for some sort of group get-together.

thanks for the welcome!!

actually the prices were the same as i have been paying at walmart the last couple of weeks. 17.99 a box of 50 and the bulk was reloads of 225 a box for 69.99. i figured this would make great practice ammo

WalMart has been selling 230gr FMJ .45 WWB (Winchester White Box) for $29 for a 10-round box.

No one else has been able to touch that as far as my searching has shown. That's about 0.30 per round.

I can go to FreedomArmory and pay $357 for 1000 rounds of Fiocchi of Blazer, which despite the quantity purchase, is STILL higher than WM.

And 17.99 for 50 is 36.00 per 100. 225 for 69.99 isn't too bad though. What was the brand?

*We also need to keep in mind, we are comparing .40 and .45 prices!
