Default Mass Transit

I found this on another forum. I wasnt sure of the answer, so I thought I would ask it on here. I assume that you would need a LCTF. I am aware that most trains and busses have policys against it.

Quote:
Pa. law requires a LTCF to carry open in a vehicle, does that include buses and trains? Thank you for the info.

IANAL but a bus or a train in my mind would be a vehcile and thus require the LTCF.

I had a breakdown on the road a while back; left the car for the tow company and called a cab for a ride to my destination; driver told me he couldn't take me with 'that' unless I had my license (of course, I did). He told me "mine's bigger" with a smile, and uncovered an S&W model 29. That barrel just goes on forever!

To carry in ANY vehicle you have to have a license, whether it is concealed or open. Is a bus a vehicle? yes.. Is a train a vehicle? yes..

Car, horse drawn buggy, truck, tractor-trailer, riding lawnmower, bus, train, wagon, bicycle, motorcycle, trike, tank, rickshaw - they are all vehicles.

Yes, trains and busses are both "vehicles".

What are you basing this on?

I'm guessing, probably Amtrak's and Greyhound's policies.

I was, I also know the some public busses have that little sign when you first get on, says no weapons permitted, no alchcol, no pets. etc.

FWIW I had contacted SEPTA, public transit here in the Philadelphia area while back:

(Licensed carry on SEPTA)http://forum.pafoa.org/concealed-open-carry-121/35434-licensed-carry-septa.html#post464054

I thought I'd take it one step farther and ask SEPTA.

My question:

Thank You
SEPTA's answer:

Quote:
Thank you for contacting us. Management from the Transit Police Department reports that the law allows valid permit holders to carry firearms on our system, though they would prefer that they not do so. There is no policy that they are aware of, just the law.

There ya have it, another law enforcement agency that knows it's legal, but would prefer you didn't carry at all.
