How about. "I just got it". If and when you are ever questioned about it.

Negating previous guilt. As mentioned earlier. Times change. If they give you big time grief, just say, look. I don't want to die getting robbed over a pizza. It happens ALL the time. It can stay out of the open... and we don't have to talk about this. This isn't about me pushing any kind of agenda here. This is about my safety.

I delivered every once in a while as a fill in for a shop owner who was a friend. And I'll tell you right now I would carry whatever way if that was my normal job. They stopped delivering to certain housing plans, and streets here because of people getting beat and robbed.

No thanks.

As an employer I value the employee rather than their political affiliation or interests. As an example and not meant to offend anyone here I despise a tatoo or piercing that I can see in my building on my clock. Cover it up and take it out before you clear my front door. I don't judge anyone for what they do to their own person after hours on their time. I do remind all of them how damaging a political canadate can be to small business and the job market and welcome their opinion. Issues like your having with oc on your time is probably not a big deal to him as long as it doesn't affect his business and future business based on your actions. Geographics play heavily in this instance. I laugh all the time privately at how some of my folks behave on their time, it's their time and it doesn't matter whether I like it or not. If your employer is so close minded to your actions on your time off, he's a bad employer and is new to business or a bully that has only survived because of driving fear into those who put up with it.

I am going to go against the grain here a bit. We all know I OC. The cops know I OC. In other words, this advice comes from someone who OC's and who believes in standing up for your rights. Don't do it. You obviously have reservations about the possible ramifications at work if someone from there sees you. You have stated that you need the job. You are not some sort of sell out for not OC'ing. Your family comes first.

For me, there are a few things I would really like to be more active about changing. This would require, at a minimum, that I do something that I know will place me in jeopardy of being arrested. At this point in my life I am OK with going through that, but I am not OK with putting my family through the associated trouble, I.E. lost wages, lawyer fees, worry... so I refrain from actively confronting the system. At this time. For you, from what you have posted, you are in no position to have your livelihood disrupted over this. Do what you like, as long as you can pay the bill. My guess is that if you took a crappy job in the first place, there was probably a need to do so. Doing something that you feel may jeopardize that job, is, well, ..I would recommend finding another job, then quitting this one before you start OC'ing around town. Unless you are trying to get fired, in which case why not just quit? Just MHO, but I don't think getting you riled up about standing up to the man is what you need to hear just now.....

Good luck either way bro, and I hope things get better.

Wow - I'm surprised to see a comment like this from you.

Seriously though, you make an excellent point. My own advice was intended more on how to go about it if he actually decided to OC away from work, and not actually meant to influence that decision (I know YOU know that ). Sticking with the current plan (CC only) is certainly worth considering.

Don't make shit up, it will only make things more complicated than they need to be.

If I felt the need to carry at work against company policy, I certainly wouldn't post about it here. What if you stay at the job long enough to make some friends and end up with one of them visiting the forum... no more secret, perhaps?

To sum it all up, I think your making this more complicated than it needs to be.

What he said....

Yeah, my friend Headcase never goes against the grain! He makes a very good point, as well as some others I have read here. If it is truly a concern about keeping your job, about being outed by an accidental meeting with a co worker, just CC for now.
