Even though that does not admit to anything pleading the 5th may work against you at your employer.

When I answer that that was the end of questions and I feel he left with the impression that was a no.

I hate to lie, but if it means saving my job, I'll do what I have to do. The "No CC, no handguns" comment was more impulsive put on the spot answer. I knew I would arouse suspicion if I answered in the affirmative.

In your opinion if I am OCing in public and I bump into XYZ employee and they comment on the gun, what should I say?

That would depend on the comment. The difficult thing at this point would be explaining the contradiction with your previous statements.

"I thought you don't have handguns, you don't have that at work do you"?

I could get around that without lying, my concern is from that point on they'd think and/or want to check to make sure I don't have it at work.

i'm of the opinion that what you do on your time is your business. if you like to wear purple zoot suit while OCing a Thompson with a drum magazine, they really have no right to give you a hard time about it. at my last job, my empty holster could be seen by most. only one person gave me a hard time over it; she was a strong hillary-supporter then, and anti-gun. she complained about me having a gun, though it was in my car. she was told no matter how much anyone disliked it, it was my car, and i could keep whatever i wanted in it. afterwards, i made sure to let her see me put my gun in my holster after i punched out.

This isn't going to come across very well, but... Don't ask "us" what to say.

Nobody here can answer your question... unless you are fishing for enough replies that mesh with what you are already thinking in order to validate your position.

Don't make shit up, it will only make things more complicated than they need to be.

If I felt the need to carry at work against company policy, I certainly wouldn't post about it here. What if you stay at the job long enough to make some friends and end up with one of them visiting the forum... no more secret, perhaps?

To sum it all up, I think your making this more complicated than it needs to be.

Perhaps something like, "I didn't want to make a big deal about it. It wouldn't be very smart for me to violate company policy. After all, private property owners and employers certainly have the right to decide if they want to allow guns or not".

See....NO LIES.

This is one of those predicaments that I knew I'd get into no matter what I said. I'd be damned either way due to the sensitivity of the job and CC. I knew at some point if I was seen off the clock OCing, even if I didn't say anything to anyone about handguns or CCing, it would have gotten back to work some how. We hear about it in the news all the time about pizza men shooting robbers, and I know my employer knows and is aware of this.

I really didn't want to make a big deal about it, but it was kind of pushed on to me and I wanted to keep quiet about it (concealed means concealed). I have to keep this in mind in case I do bump into a co-worker off the clock. I may mention something about having handguns now since we do talk guns at work and just let it go from there. If I'm seen OCing, i'll mention what Greg said, and hopefully that will be the end of it.
