Default "Sterile Carry" while OC

I've seen a few threads/posts lately where people have handed over their drivers license or LTCF while open carrying. Just curious how many carry with NO id on them while open carrying?

Personally, I have a money clip for my cash. And a separate wallet for my ID, debit card, etc... When I am OC, I leave the money clip in my pocket but do not carry my wallet. If I am "out and about", the wallet stays in the car. Sometimes, I pull my debit card out of the wallet and put it in my pocket if I'm low on cash or might be doing some shopping.

I first head about this "sterile carry" from Mike from OCDO and have been OC'n "sterile" ever since. Who else?

Yep. Ever since Dickson City I always have my digital recorder when I OC and leave both ID and LTCF in my vehicle 98% of the time.

It removes the 'temptation' to comply, and prevents seizure of the documents.

That's funny. The Dickson City Counsel meeting was the first time I OC'd without my wallet.

I agree that it removes the temptation to comply. I've never been in a hostile OC situation and don't know exactly how I'd act under pressure. Therefore, removing the "Papers" from the equation is how I've decided to deal with it.

Many people underestimate how hard it can be to refuse compliance when standing before the man.
Not being *able* to comply makes it a lot easier

That said, I sterile carry when I remember. Leaving my ID(s) in the vehicle.

I'm not too worries about it as so far I've had no problem refusing to show them when demanded.
YMMV

Well if the LEO decides to illegally detain you for hours to find out who you are because you dont have ID simply for OC'ing that would probably suck alot.

That's ok - I can record up to 144 hours. Besides, if I'm informed that I'm being detained, I will verbally identify myself as required by law - I'm just not showing "my papers".
