Default For those of you who OC, do you practice weapon retention

Just wondering, I see that OCing is very popular here in PA and on this forum. Do those of you who OC ever practice weapon retention?

OK, for those that OC or CCW have you ever trained to retain your weapon when it is out of the holster?

I've had both basic weapons retention and recovery training... though I would like to get more.

I also carry in a Lvl2 retention holster.

I've practiced some scenarios and learned a few joint lock and control techniques, though I'd like much, much more practice.

I know for a fact that some members have but then again, even though he won by a landslide "nobody" voted for Reagan's re-election to a second term in office.

It is good to see that so many citizens are thinking about weapon retention and practicing it. For most of my adult life I have been carrying under the color of law and because of that over the years I have been provided with training and have done much more on my own.

Since I see so many people coming here and finding out that OC is legal in PA and then doing it I also wanted them to see this thread with some well thought of folks in it. The vast majority of those OCing will be doing so in holsters made for CCW and free of any retention beyond friction or a thumb break. Being in the business of officer survival so long I can tell you how easy it is for someone who knows how a holster works to defeat it and disarm the person. The are also tactics for isolating the strong hand away from the gun before disarm. When you carry a gun in public people may just be awake enough to notice it and for some reason try to take it from you. Don't let getting the barrel on line with them and pulling the trigger be your only defense.
