Thanks for the post, and glad to see it was well-handled. I saved a copy of the HD Letter in my files should I have a problem in the future with OCing in a HD.
So far, the one here in Harrisburg (East Park Dr.) has not given me a problem. I used to go in there all the time to pick up a friend of mine who worked there to drive her home. Since then, management has changed, so this letter may come in handy, along with the reference to the official corporate document. -38SnubFan

Good job, 99. You stayed calm, cool & collected. I agree with others that I would have left my merchandise with the manager. There is a lot of misinformation (here in Washington as well) quoted by non-gun owning people.

I don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but I am curious of something.
And I know the OP Patrick, so I'm sure he will not take this as a personal attack. But I was under the impression that if you do not hold a LTCF, that a civilian is not permitted to transport a firearm in a vehicle for the sheer purpose of OCing. Please correct me if I'm wrong. And I'll see you next weekend Patrick

Maybe I'm wrong, but I was under the impression the OP actually did have his LTCF; he was simply informing the HD Associate that one was not required while openly carrying on foot.
I didn't re-read the whole thread, so if someone comes across where the OP stated he does not have an LTCF, I'll recant this statement.

I know the OP as well and he does have his LTCF.
BTW, hearing him tell the story in person is so much better.

Excuse me, I may have read that wrong Dobe, but I dont see where you can carry your handgun in the car at all without a license. I had seen on here that people without one will unload it and store it, then when they exit the vehicle, pop the mag back in.
Maybe I heard wrong, or missed it somewhere, but that doesnt seem to be legal. Did I misread one of the exceptions?

Transporting it so that you can OC is not one of the exceptions.
