I would do this at a Passport photo place. I attended my BCI recert this spring out in Utah and they showed several examples of photos that were rejected. The BCI folks recommended using a passport photo service.

I know AAA takes the photos, as well as some drug stores. PakMail and the UPS Store should do it as well.

It sounds like we'll have the Notary and the Printing taken care of though. Thanks to all who are pitching in. This is turning out to be a great team effort.

Jason
The UPS store on Lehigh does it. Sometimes they have quite a line.

So do I bring the camera or not?

Am I correct in that we need to bring the application/forms?
Can we print them out, or do they have to be sent from Utah?

Of course it's not as convenient as having it done on site of the permit course, but just thought I'd mention it
not every prothonotary will notarize for free. in phila county for example it is up to the individual. a notary commission is individual and an employer even if a municipal employer may not dictate that a notary may not charge.

By Statute, Utah does not require live fire. The statute does require a safety course and introduction to Utah Statutes.

I attended my recert in Utah earlier this year and opinions differed greatly on live fire. The BCI folks leave it to the discretion of the Instructor but also mandate that any additional teaching in the course first meet BCI Approval.

Hopefully we will have a tremendous turnout. I am not above scheduling a "live fire" course not related to the Utah CCW at a future date. We can also discuss the variety of NRA Certificate courses available, I'm certified to train students and Instructors in all Pistol, Rifle, & Shotgun disciplines as well as conduct workshops to train Training Counselors.

The volume of email I have received regarding this warms my heart. I look forward to meeting a great group of gun owners for the benefit class and will likely forge many new friendships.

You should pat yourselves on the back for your willingness to step up and provide financial and emotional support for Meleanie. Hopefully we can give her a great confidence boost in the days leading up to her hearing.

Jason

Going from this post it made it sound like there was not going to be live fire exercise but I wanted to make sure one way or the other

The PSP fingerprints for free. Call your nearest PSP barracks and ask them what would be a good day to show up for fingerprinting because they're not always fully staffed.

I'm hoping the photos I make on my computer will suffice... they're on nice glossy heavy paper and high color definition, so I can't tell the difference between them and "store" photos.

I guess some people try to just print them on regular paper, and I can see why UT would reject that.

Hint for those using PAINT: image attributes set to 225 by 225 will put you in the 2" x 2" neighborhood. Leastwise on a HP deskjet D2460 printer.

Fingerprint question: My prints are already in IAFIS digitally, do I need to be printed again?
Also...how late would you be able to accommodate people...I have to work until 12 (about 45 minutes away) that day but could take care of the assorted services on my own

If you are willing to bring that for the class I'm on board.

If you arrive late I will circle back at the end of the course and get you up to speed.
