Default Unusual OC encounter

Penn Dot is doing some work on our road today (tar and chip). A bunch of guys where hanging out around the trucks just before my house. They put up one of those signs in my front yard, you know 'expect stops next 2 miles' thing. My grass was getting pretty long and I wanted to cut it before this rain comes tomorrow.

Well here I was sweating my tush off cutting the lawn today. I didn't mind the sign and just went around it. One guy walking up the road asked me if I wanted it moved, I told him not to worry about it, that it could stay where it was. As I'm making my 3 round around the yard this same guy is back. He waves me over while he's picking the sign up off my grass. So since he was being nice I went over to cut the grass under the sign. As I get over to him he looks at my hip and says "cool you're packing". I smiled and said "yes I am". He asked if it was a 40 cal and I told him no it's just a 9 . He starts telling me that I should get a 40cal but that the 45 is way to powerful for me, LOL. I told him I don't mind the power of the 9 and if need be hubby carries a 40cal, but I would rather be carrying a AK47 with the way things are going around here lately. We talked a bit more about different guns and then he went back to his buddies.

Now every time they drive by my house (while I'm outside that is) they all give a wave. Gee do you think I can get them to do my driveway too, lol.

Excellent I love to hear about the good encounters!!!! Makes me happy to see that not everyone is terrified of inanimate objects!!!

I once had a senior lady tell me she was glad to see me O.C. That not enough kids my age (28 lol) stand up for anything any more and it made her sad.

Cripes some folks around the parts I hang out in seem scared just to see my FL lisc! It's like "oooh noooo she is carrying concealed right now? ooohhhhh scary!". Like WTF? Even a woman who has guns, she got all weird too. Yet is was some old hippies all into alternate energies everything, local organic farming, are vegetarians, into Obama, and all peace and love, who were the least scared. In fact "amused and amazed" is the better term to use here. They didn't seem scared one bit and were not anti at all.

Gawd, if I OC'd solo around the area, would the world stop spinning?

LOL, I don't think I should let them fondle anything. For now I just think I'll stick to the pavement I have.

Nothing to do with OC nor CC, but here goes...

A few years ago the borough workers in my town were painting lines on the road with a walk-behind machine.

Since I am friends with them I jokingly asked if they would paint lines in my parking lot. Of course they declined, stating that they were not allowed to do so.

About 11:45 they stopped back to tell me they were going to lunch. They asked if they could leave the machine in my parking lot while they were gone.

Of course I agreed. Then the supervisor went out of his way to tell me how it worked. Which buttons to press, etc.

As soon as they left I started painting lines in the parking lot. When they returned an hour later they all laughed. The supervisor said I couldn't paint a straight line if I had to and he finished the job for me.

Sometimes life in a small town is good.
