I certainly don't take any form of personal ownership over the thread. I'm just pointing out that attacking those who open carry in this particular thread is off-topic. It's geared towards a particular group of people, who want to help educate law enforcement as to the legality of open carry. It's narrowly defined.
Most forums have rules against personal attacks. I certainly have done no attacking, however there's been plenty of attacking towards me. |

Maybe I need to get out more but in all of my years I have yet to see anybody Open Carry. Anyway, I too applaud the OP.

I think we've really gotten off-topic in this thread and I'm kind of disappointed by some of the replies so far. It's one thing to disagree with each other on an issue (I don't think anyone expects us all to agree all the time) but I think it's another when we start throwing personal attacks around. Nothing is accomplished by this and all it does it create bad blood between a group of people who desperately need to be working together.
We've had the open carry debate a few times on this forum and while this is not by any means the most "spirited" one, but I'd really like to keep this thread on the topic at hand. As ChamberedRound pointed out:
If we want to debate the pros and cons of open carry there are 2 or 3 other threads on the issue that have plenty of heated debate, this thread is about how we can best educate law enforcement to the law regarding it so let's try to stay on topic for that.

Thank you, Dan.
Folks, I am perfectly willing to give advice and assist. If anyone wants to step up to the plate, offer a city or a county that's hassling open carriers, and so on, please post so with information for me to go on, or PM me if you want to keep things private. |

WHY CARRY OPEN???? DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL COOL????

To answer your first question: because Open Carry is legal in PA, and it's the right of every Pennsylvanian if they choose to exercise it.
As for your second question: that type of tone, which is only attempting to aggravate and incite a useless argument, is not only not wanted here, but is also off-topic and adds nothing to the discussion at hand. If you read the numerous threads about Open Carry on this site, you'll find all the opinions/answer you need. You might think Open Carry is pointless and makes no sense, but there are many here who believe a discussion on this issue and the exercising of this right is very important for a number of reasons. To everyone else involved in this discussion, please don't fall into the trap and let this post set you off.

jackbauer,
If your post was a goof then I retract the above comments. At the point you replied to this thread you had only made about 2 or 3 posts, so if you were joking I had no way of knowing, as there was little or no post history to base your comments on. We've had a few new posters in the past who were trolling, did something similar and were serious about it, so I was reacting based on past experience. Again, no harm no foul if you were just messing around.
