I would guess that ALL the customers did not see his gun. Any new customers entering the store would be inclined to tell these employees about it. By putting his shirt over it, these NEW customers can't see it and the employees won't be bothered.

Thats what I figured, besides even if it is only for the comfort of those who already saw the firearm it still is private property and I hold those rights in regard the same way I do my 2A rights.
