Exactly my next question. Or at least reason enough to check.

That is one of the things I was trying to find out. Who was responsible for the training cirriculum. That is where we need to start the change in attitude and training on how to deal with a citizen OC'ing.

I understand the need for training, and we need to work on that, but in the meantime, how can we best inform the LEO that he is breaking the law, or at the very minimum enforcing a law that is pre-empted?

I've heard the "this is legal", check here, call him, do this....litterally 1000 times. If I were there and didn't know the ordinance was illegal than I would issue the citation.

It's kinda like any other job, how many of us have worked for a company that has some type of SOP, which you follow, then at some point its changed about 180 degrees, because OSHA or some other regulatory agency decided you were doing it wrong. The company changes to comply. I don't know many if any Officers that would KNOWINGLY arrest for a bad law.

In a civilized manner, not pitching a hissy fit, and not the LEO getting an LAPD vs Rodney King attitude.
(sorry just putting out there what seems to be PPD attitudes, both.)

I have no trouble seeing that you would follow the rules/laws that the people that sign your paycheck tell you to follow until advised otherwise.

I deal with that example everyday.

PLEASE keep the discussion CIVILIZED!!!!
No name calling,posturing,bashing, etc..........

It would be nice to discus OC/CC with LEO's in a civil manner.
I actually had a discussion at work the other day with an off duty State Trooper. He said he knows OC is legal and would not harass someone if he saw them OCing as long as they were not being disorderly and/or being threatening with it. He supported both CC and OC. It was a good talk and it was nice to know there are LEO's who don't care if you OC or not. I gave him our flyer and asked him to check our site sometime.

The whole conversation I was concealing my Kel-Tec P3AT .380

Exactly, the responsibility seems to be farther up the food chain, so to speak.
