The girl asked what would happen if someone in the place went nuts and started shooting everybody. My friend looked down at the GLOCK in his hand, and stated: "That wouldn't happen since the rest of us have guns".
The bad guy is the one pointing a gun at the teller.

The good guys are the ones pointing their guns at him

Just heard on the WILK-FM news where the police chief stated he wasn't aware of open carry laws and if mistakes were made, oh well.

Arrogance? Stupidity? Ignorance?

Yes, this evening's meeting ought to indeed be interesting.

I just heard the quote from the chief about "erring on the side of caution", and there should have been "more communication between organizations"!

What organizations?

The cops and private citizens?

I think the chief needs to communicate with a couple of lawyers who are knowledgeable about this and keep his mouth shut before he steps on his, uhhhh, thingie again.

LOL, we've got your back covered... I know one chief of police that should be spending the rest of the day brushing up on his gun laws. I wonder if that $25k deductable is per incedent or suit?

I say again, their actions in regard to open carry is only one of the many violations of the law that chief's officers committed. If he has allowed his officers to be ignorant of the legal requirements regarding the first amendment, the fourth amendment, etc., if he has allowed his officers to be blissfully unaware of the requirements of probable cause, search and siezure, ID requirements, if he has allowed his officers to somehow remain untrained in such basics as "you cannot sieze private property without legal cause," then the chief should be fired. Tonight.

But, even if the chief has failed in his duty to know the requirements of his job, even if he has so utterly failed his city and his citizens as to fail to hire, train, and maintain a properly educated and disciplined police force, it's irrelevant. The officers on the scene have confessed that they knew the law, and therefore knew they were breaking it. Which means the chief should still be fired for allowing such officers on his force.

I guess he expects people that will be open carrying to call him in advance to let him know where they will be and for how long.
