i looked at it last night, and it had been locked, so they may well have removed it.

the moderator posted a note basically saying he didn't really like the press release and wanted to wait for more information (presented in a less inflammatory way) to come out before having a thread on it there.

i guess he must have gone ahead and deleted the thread or something.

No, but you can fire their bosses, the town council. You get enough people together that agree someone is doing a bad job and you can take the council and run the municipality, hiring and firing whom you want.

Its important to remember that sovereignty in this country rests with the individual. Political organizations and bureaucracies that administrate derive their power from the consent of the governed, not from anywhere else. Is it a little more difficult than just walking up to some random pot-hole-filler and firing him cause you think hes doing a crap job? Yes...but it should be. Make no mistake however. If you make the claim that police (fire departments and ambulances are frequently independent contractors in PA and operate under a different set of rules) work for the municipality and not the people, you'd be right. Police work for the municipality and the people in the municipality work for the voters. That dilutes greatly the effect that one person may have but if an officer screws up royally, outrages the voters and the chief won't fire him...I'd expect that chief and officer to be looking for a new job rather quickly once pressure is brought to bear on the mayor and council.

There are many threads on this, but my personal favorite is the Blackhawk Serpa. Level-II retention, and a secure, strong holster. Works well with Glocks!

Well, time for another "long time lurker, first time poster".....post.

Saw this thread today and needless to say, it's quite upsetting. Even more so that I was in the area. Anyways, it's about time I joined up.

I'll be back in the area this weekend, and would be interested in helping any way that I can; ie another meeting at OCB.

Actually, my best guess is that he (or maybe he and other members of the force) is trying to avoid data retention laws that might require the archival of messages used with agency provided e-mail boxes.

Perhaps he thinks it's easier to get at the files of the police (in the case of archived messages) than it is to get at the files of Hotmail (whom is surely retaining your e-mails as well.)

Wow. And Wow. I was busy this weekend, and log on during lunch to read a bit, and I find this!?!

Now 4:13 and I am just finishing up. While I did work a little this afternoon, I didn't do much.

But PA Pat, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope that all this gets straightened out in short time and with little hassle to you and yours. And above all else, I hope that the LEOs and others involved are taught the proper PA laws and procedures so this never has to happen to anyone again.

If you need anything, please let me know.
