Sounds more like you were brandishing a baby. Unless it had a dirty diaper then i would have been a deadly weapon.

Well I'd suggest not waiting too long on crafting and publishing a better Press Release. I am upset about what happened, but personally I have a hard time rallying behind that Release. And if it were put in front of a state-wide or even national audience, I'd cringe. I know its not this site's, or Pa Patriot's. But its what got out first, and its everywhere now.

The information is complied with enough first hand knowledge that the average reader will attribute it to being an official position and public statement of those involved.

Don't wait too long putting something out as the word of the group involved, lest this piece become what defines the incident.

I keep thinking about the 911 calls, and the alleged return calls to inform the callers that what they observed was legal.

First of all, I won't believe the police would make such a call. I'd need to see proof to believe THAT one.

Secondly, I have to wonder why the police even responded.
When the news was called by the OC group to report what was happening to them, they were not interested in the story because nobody was being robbed.(other than those being robbed of their rights)

I mean, really now, I have to wonder how the phone call to 911 played out.

"Hello 911, what is your emergency?"
"There's a bunch of men with guns here."
"Did you say guns?"
"Yes, GUNS!"
"Is there a robbery in progress?"
"No, but I'm afraid!"
"Sir, what are they doing now?"
"I can only see a few of them, because the rest have gone back to the buffet for more meatloaf... but, ummm it looks like they are eating chicken and the children have ice cream."
"What are they doing with the guns, sir?"
"Well, nothing... you better send someone QUICK!"

Sheesh. I mean, how can a group of adults with children, doing nothing more than eating dinner, elicit such a response?

Perhaps one of you who were present should write a letter to the editor of the local paper and write it as though you are addressing the 911 caller(s).

Make it known how absolutely absurd it was to have called in the first place, and ask them how proud they must be that they caused young children to cry, people's rights to be violated, and dinners of other patrons disrupted.

This whole thing is still pissing me off.

It was OK for the cops to show up. It was after that they did everything wrong. If they came in looked around talked to the manager that would have been fine. Once they determined that no criminal activity was taking place they should have either left or stayed & ate dinner.

WOW.

I really don't know where to start. I am just appalled at the behavior of the PD. Don't they have anything better to do than harass their employers (taxpayers)? They think their s#%t doesn't stink and anyone should do as they say because they said so? Unbelievable.

Everyone involved has my full support in any way I can help out. Just name it.

Gotta run right now. I will post more later.

I am laughing, but at the same time I am concerned. The idea of police doing what they want & making up laws as they go is getting out of hand.

I am friends with a circle of PSP's, and they all laugh about breaking the law. They brag about how fast they can drive to Florida, stating that if they get stopped they'll just flash their badge and move on. Then they laugh a bit more.
I am SO tired of the arrogance of police officers.

I said it before I'll say it again we support the ugly step child of the amendments.
If they had violated Rich's right to free speech.
Dan Rather would be shoving a microphone in his face right now asking how he felt when he was in the back of that car.
Rich if and when we meet I owe you a beer.

I agree with you there, that press release from Mike wasn't helpful at all.

The point of press releases is to get them picked up by the press.

Starting off with SIEG HAIL is a sure way to get your press release ignored.

*sigh*
