Mariano and Gallagher were at a restaurant eating dinner when they received a call to respond to the Old Country Buffet for two males who were eating dinner with firearms at their sides, but were not doing anything wrong; at that time Mariano advised the dispatch that they were not going to respond because there was no crime being committed. Id., pp. 9-10; 9. After consuming a little more of their dinners, Mariano decided to respond to the Old Country Buffet to check on the safety of the people and to find out what was going on and they did so respond without lights or sirens. Id., p. 11; 10. While en route there were further communications with dispatch at which time Mariano was advised that other calls were coming in reporting the same incident of numerous males walking around with their guns holstered, Id, p. 14, and when they arrived at the restaurant they were flagged over by a patron who advised that there were multiple men inside with guns walking around eating dinner, Id., p. 18 but again, no indication that there was a type of criminal activity taking place. Gallagher, p.56; 11. Neither upon their arrival at the restaurant nor at any time during the incident did Mariano or Gallagher ever speak to anybody from the management of Old Country Buffet, nor did anyone from management ever approach them. Saw this in a paper at work the other day. Apparently Dicson city really enjoys getting sued.
http://www.thetimes-tribune.com/news...rights_lawsuit DICKSON CITY - The borough has reached a settlement with a Pike County woman who filed a civil rights lawsuit against a police officer in December 2007. Roseann Lore of Greentown, who will receive a $90,000 settlement, sued Patrolman Chris Brazen, whom she said verbally attacked her in public at Circuit City, according to court documents. Former Police Chief William Stadnitski and the borough were also named in the suit. The incident occurred when Patrolman Brazen confronted Ms. Lore after she left her children, ages 9 and 10, at the store while she went home to get cash, according to the suit. Ms. Lore said he cursed at her, told her she should have had an abortion and threatened that her children would be taken away.

Amazing that these idiots didn't learn from this and kept up with their JBTedness at OCB. Some people will never learn from their mistakes and apparently Dickson City never will either.

Holy crap...leaving kids that young in a store is awful. Calling CPS, MAYBE. But cursing at her and telling her she should have had an abortion? Fucking stupid. What she did was dumb and irresponsible. What he did was just stupid.
But, that's how DC rolls.

I agree, but if I recall, she actually spoke to at least one store employee who said they would keep an eye on them for the few minutes she was gone.
As a parent myself, I would NEVER do something like that, but IMO it's still not the same as just 'sneaking off' while you leave your children behind.
