Historically, discussions trying to reach that ‘balance’ typically do end up lopsided with OC on the defense.
For the most part….those threads all look and smell the same – but interesting ones do come along.

Lycan, I see aspects of the points you mention elsewhere on the forums.

It boils down to this is not thread about "gun rights in general", but people do periodically take it that direction. Obviously because the discussion inevitably takes the "why did it happen" detour...

Regardless, it should be a thread about the incident at OCB. (hint hint everybody)

Although it has been said many times it bears repeating yet again... Most LEO/Dept's are OK in regard to OC knowledge or willing to be updated when the issue presents iteself. Bad leo encounters and dept's are in the minority. Although I have seen the acceptance of training memo's frowned on by most depts, which goes against my generalization above. I have suspicions why... but again, not really something I want to dive into in this thread.

I do dave, I disagree with your methods at times, as you probably disagree with mine, but I believe we are interested in the same goal.

Thanks for the offer too, if you were closer I would bring him by for a visit... Most of my LEO friends are always in civie clothing when they come by so I'll have to see if I can get one to swing by in uniform. I think that would be a good opportunity to put some + influence back in my sons perspective.

Maybe get one of them to drop by for a bbq in their civies, and bring their uniform with. After an hour or two interacting with you and your son they could slip inside, put on their uniform, and come back outside. Give your son a chance to see hes a "really fun neat friendly guy that pushes a swing great" and then show him hes a cop too. Might help to keep him more relaxed around an officer if he knows its a friend of yours first, and then you and him can explain that not all cops are like the once from DCPD.
