Let’s hope the court rules with common sense so that the taxpayers of Dickson City are not hit in the pocketbook.

Yeah at least the portion of the poplace there that showed up for the city council meeting, seemed to all be on the side of the officers. So when you pick your pony, it's yours, win or lose.

Even those who weren't there have a hand in this, they chose to elect the council (whether by voting for them, not voting at all, or writing in "mickey mouse"). Sadly the good citizens of DC who don't approve of this will pay as well, but that might be the kick in the pants that gets them to do something abuot the problem rather than sitting by silently.

As one who sits on borough council (Sits? I have the "pleasure" of running the circus!), you speak the truth concerning the hoi polloi. On more than one occasion we'd have a monthly borough council meeting with virtually nobody in the audience, but yet the same people who don't attend complain about decisions that we made.

As for the Dickson City Incident, I have appraised our borough's council members of the two lawsuits involved and will be furnishing our mayor (no Internet connection for him) hardcopies of the two documents.

I have also announced to all on-line participants of the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs' Borough Discussion Group of the Dickson City lawsuits (with appropriate links). Can't do townships, or cities, or counties, but I can do boroughs (and there are 961 of them in the Commonwealth).

Shared the federal civil case with our town's part-time police officer. His thoughts on the subject?

"Wow, that borough is screwed!"

On a related note, after tonight's borough council meeting we were talking about one of our borough's nutcases (who has fallen off the wagon big time). Officer Friendly pointed to my Hi-Point 9mm and totally agreed with me carrying during council meetings. Said it was the smart thing to do.

Do you attend the PA Boroughs Association conference in Hershey each year?

I used to be an exhibitor there.
