I guess I'm in the same boat as you. While I can almost see people who don't carry at all haven't a negative attitude you can almost forgive them. The ones that piss me off are the people who do carry and just add to the anti's ammo but their comments without knowing the facts. Oh those dopes who OC at the OCB have hurt us all. Carry Concealed if your going to carry. If you weren't there and don't know the facts don't post. Some of us were CC and some of us went OC when we took off our coats. Maybe we should have just left our guns home and that would have made our fellow gun owners happy. Are better yet just turn in our LTCF and join the Brady Group. These people piss me off more then any of the people who don't carry. And as for the LEOS they know if their called their only minutes away and a bullet with travel at a FPS if it knows a LEO is on the way as their faster then a speeding bullet.

As you can tell I'm like you getting jaded as well but with gun owners who are afraid to stand up for the 2nd and only give it lip service. MAybe if I put my head in the sand the anti's will go away

I agree. For those who feel their right to carry is so fragile that to question any of it's content, or to use it to it's fullest extent could spell the end of that right...They are the people who should be up in arms over this stuff. If it's that fraglie, it's time to fight.
It's a shame it all comes down to CC/OC within the community. That debate leads straight to tactical issues for or against. Everybody has opinions and thats fine. But the reality here is, this was about anti-gun folks and gun owners. Had the caller glimpes a peek at a gun peeking out of a CC'ers waistband as they reached over to feed their kid, there's a good chance we'd be right where we are today.
People print, people accidently expose. Some people openly carry. Whats the difference? It's our right. All gun owners need to realize that to keep our rights, we need to preserve it in whole.

Steve in PA,
I checked out the OTHER forum. It's like "beating a dead horse," the area of "THE VALLEY" have many blockheads, unfortunately some are in "high places".
The Juvey ceter is the PRIME EXAMPLE. The judges,DA's and ASS. DA's and city, boro, and township solicitors are some of the MOST UNEDUCATED people I know! If I we're them I would sue for EDUCATIONAL MALPRACTICE.

Keep up the good fight...good is on your side!

Remember...It's only liable if it's NOT TRUE!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 21, 2007
-----
Clifford, PA (Susquehanna County) - A fifth person has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Borough of Dickson City and members of the Dickson City Police Department due to the "open carry" incident at the Old Country Buffet in Dickson City, PA on May 9, 2008.

The plaintiff, Edward Kraft, Jr., of Clifford PA, seeks compensatory and punitive damages as a result of alleged civil rights violations suffered during the police response to a call about a group of people peaceably eating dinner, some of whom were openly carrying holstered handguns.

Kraft's action, filed in United States Federal District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, follows a similar lawsuit filed by four other patrons on June 11 that were also involved in the incident. Kraft and the other four plaintiffs, one of whom was only armed with a video camera, claim they were doing nothing illegal or suspicious under Pennsylvania law and the police had no reason or authority to detain and search them, or confiscate their guns.

" I am well aware of the right to carry a firearm although common sense when carrying one should supersede any law.", was one comment that I just couldn't let go of.

You have to apply for access to those forums. It took me a couple of days to be granted access.

anyway.... I thought yinz might be interested.

Thats sounds alot like what the local SYCPD cop told me after I asked what his PD knows about OC. Then he added the story about the guy OCing at the Shrewsbury carnival and threw some " but -the- children!" comments in. [/rolling eyes]

Larrymeyer- I saw the flack you got at HuntPA too, then the mod closed the thread. I'd have let the thread keep going and cut out any lil bad parts of flaming and the like, but I'm just the taxidermy and trapping mod over there...

My son at 9yrs old is a better shot at the range then most LEO's I've seen shooting there. Between video games & just plain ole simple childs play, guns whether real or fake are a part of life. My son has some friends who are not allowed to play "pretend" guns but if they happen to wind up w/ a group of kids who are playing w/ them, the reaction of the kids is scarey how inamored they are w/ the thought of even having a "gun". My son is aware of how dangerous a gun can be & is taught to respect firearms & knows they are not toys. I don't know how parents can think that if they ignore a subject it just makes it go away.

A second federal lawsuit! Dickson City must be loving this. All they need now for a full plate are some private criminal complaints against the two police officers involved.

Excellent point. Some people seek to try to let us live in a fantasy world where there is no such thing as violence or danger.

Our kids need to be brought up knowing that the stove is hot, the knife is sharp and the gun pokes holes in things.

Many parents try to pretend that it is best to teach kids that guns are dangerous and that we need not even talk about them.

Trying to pretend that something as dangerous as a hot oven should not be discussed or even recognized is silly. I mean, should we ban the E-Z bake oven because our little girls may think that an oven is a safe tool to use, when it is really dangerous and the oven leads to thousands of burns every year?

Baloney.

Some people are still living with that 1950 mentallity, If you do not mention it then a child will not touch it, or question it. Bull both my sons, 13, & 9 have learned from age 5 about guns, I let them shoot at that age and I gave them safety classes everytime we went to the range. Today I know that if my sons were playing with their friends and a firearm comes out that they will leave and tell me ASAP. For they know the dangers and that a gun is not a toy.
