You plan on walking downtown carrying a .30/30?

But to answer your question..........yes, its legal for a person 18yoa or more to carry a long gun.

Alsp a person 18yoa or more can open carry a handgun.

you can open carry if 18 or over by virtue of the fact that the PA UFA only makes it generally illegal for someone under the age of 18 to possess a firearm.

Quote:
§ 6110.1. Possession of firearm by minor.
(a) Firearm.--Except as provided in subsection (b), a person
under 18 years of age shall not possess or transport a firearm
anywhere in this Commonwealth.
(b) Exception.--Subsection (a) shall not apply to a person
under 18 years of age:
(1) who is under the supervision of a parent,
grandparent, legal guardian or an adult acting with the
expressed consent of the minor's custodial parent or legal
guardian and the minor is engaged in lawful activity,
including safety training, lawful target shooting, engaging
in an organized competition involving the use of a firearm or
the firearm is unloaded and the minor is transporting it for
a lawful purpose; or
(2) who is lawfully hunting or trapping in accordance
with 34 Pa.C.S. (relating to game).
(c) Responsibility of adult.--Any person who knowingly and
intentionally delivers or provides to the minor a firearm in
violation of subsection (a) commits a felony of the third
degree.
(d) Forfeiture.--Any firearm in the possession of a person
under 18 years of age in violation of this section shall be
promptly seized by the arresting law enforcement officer and
upon conviction or adjudication of delinquency shall be
forfeited or, if stolen, returned to the lawful owner.

though legal, that might not be the best idea...

expect some intense interest from any LEOs who happen to see you.

and, while i generally support those who open carry handguns because it think the education value for the sheeple outweighs the risk that it will lead to more calls for gun control, i do not feel the same way about carrying an EBR down the street.

it is your right...so go ahead and do it if you want to (but be aware that you most likely will face some serious hassling)...but i think the sheeple seeing someone carrying an AK down the street will lead to people screaming for an AWB.

in short, while open carrying handguns is, imho, good for our side...open carrying EBRs is prolly not.

prolly not. laws do not generally state what is legal. they only state what is illegal. if there is no law saying something is illegal, then it is legal. (e.g., there is no law saying you can breath...beathing is legal by virtue of the fact that there is no law against it.)

there is a footnote in the case of commonwealth v. hawkins, however, that confirms that open carry without a license is legal in PA...it's been posted many times on this forum if you want to search for it.

maybe hit up a mall while you're at it?

I support your right to carry a rifle, however feel it would maybe not be a great idea given the 100% certainty with the way the public and law enforcement would react.

that one, unlike OCing a handgun you can expect literally a swat team and the works to come out for you...

Last time something like that happened in pgh there was like 4 helicopters(mostly news i'm sure), and the whole city was no joke shutdown and all the guy had was a pellet gun.

I have to wonder why? It's none of my business I'm just really curious you would chose that particular weapon to carry in public, downtown no less, LOL.

haha I remember that, "sniper on the roof" made national news.

once we get the record on OC of a handgun set straight with the public and law enforcement, then we can work on OC of a rifle.
