Default So pa permit doesn't work in NY what about open carry?

Will eb going to a bar right over the ny border, not a city but more of a very rural area near the lakes/wine country I think. Open carry in bars in ny no open carry what is allowed? i dunno what the newest site is. If there isn't one I'd make one.

In the state of NY you can NOT take your gun into a bar (loaded, unloaded, or locked) unless you want the the police to cart your butt to jail.

No carry in NY without a permit a NY permit. they don't issue non resident permits. If your cought with a Mag with a capacity of ovver 10 rounds your toast even if it ain't loaded. You can take your pistol to a sactioned match in NY but it must be transported unloaded locked in a secure container and the ammo in a separate locked container. A non resident wandering around NYS with a pistol is looking to get busted.

You can't carry in NY. No how, no way. having a loaded pistol anywhere but at sanctioned match is a no no.

Read rwilson's post carefully. The actual capacity of the magazine can also be an issue. If you carry 8+1 in a 14-round mag, you're still breaking the law.

You mean go to NY intentionally!

Why would anyone want to do that?

Everyone's post is good and all but they are all irrelevant.

ANY pistol in NY MUST be registered. It doesn't matter whether you live in NY or not.

If you are traveling through NY to another friendly state then keep it unloaded in a lockbox and keep a copy of peaceable journey in your car/truck.

There was a case not to long ago of a women who was in New Hampshire and was flying out of NY. She was arrested at the airport for trying to check in her luggage an unregistered handgun. Which is interesting because peaceable journey should apply, but doesn't directly mention whether going to an airport to fly out is an extended stop.

This is the only exemption I see:

Quote:
13. Possession of pistols and revolvers by a person who is a
nonresident of this state while attending or traveling to or from, an
organized competitive pistol match or league competition under auspices
of, or approved by, the National Rifle Association and in which he is a
competitor, within forty-eight hours of such event or by a person who is
a non-resident of the state while attending or traveling to or from an
organized match sanctioned by the International Handgun Metallic
Silhouette Association and in which he is a competitor, within
forty-eight hours of such event, provided that he has not been
previously convicted of a felony or a crime which, if committed in New
York, would constitute a felony, and further provided that the pistols
or revolvers are transported unloaded in a locked opaque container
together with a copy of the match program, match schedule or match
registration card. Such documentation shall constitute prima facie
evidence of exemption, providing that such person also has in his
possession a pistol license or firearms registration card issued in
accordance with the laws of his place of residence. For purposes of this
subdivision, a person licensed in a jurisdiction which does not
authorize such license by a person who has been previously convicted of
a felony shall be presumed to have no prior conviction. The
superintendent of state police shall annually review the laws of
jurisdictions within the United States and Canada with respect to the
applicable requirements for licensing or registration of firearms and
shall publish a list of those jurisdictions which prohibit possession of
a firearm by a person previously convicted of a felony or crimes which
if committed in New York state would constitute a felony.
