Took my new Savage 110 30-06 out today to sight it in. Very nice shooter. I know it can do better with about 50 more degrees on the thermometer and a decent rest.

buy it...buy buy buy

those silver tips shot the best out of the HP's i was shooting. i tried Hornady 230gr +p and the Winchester 230 gr. personal protection ammo that wal*mart sells. i got a hang up while shooting the hornady on the 3rd shot (didn't fully chamber) had no issues with the WWB other just that the Silver tips shot a better group.
my brother shot 230gr. Ranger with no problem out of his SIS but had issues chambering with the others listed above.

with Blazer @ 15yards

with the Wal*Mart 230 gr. JHP @ 15 yards

I'm just more comfortable with a 5" with a bushing at the end of the barrel so seeing a decent target with a Pro Carry 2 is reassuring. As far as ammunition is concerned, I load my own; you just dont purchase accuracy off the shelf.

5 shots, 50' hand held leaning on the bench.

50 shots, rapid fire, standing, 50'; Kimber Custom II

those are some nice groups.

i'll be loading my own plinking ammo once i get the die set, but i'm not going to carry handloaded defensive rounds. (possible legal implications if i were to be involved in a shoot.)
i've still got a bunch more different factory HP to try like Ranger, HST, etc. but as far as factory ammo is concerned, that's plenty accurate for me
