Sawed off shotgun

I was thinking about buying a double barrel 12 ga. and sawing off the barrels (after sending in my $200 first).

But then I started thinking... I have my single shot .410 that I hardly ever use... How would that work? Could I just carry it like a pistol? With slugs it would be easy to shoot and I have no doubt it would have stopping power... But also, can't you use .45LC in anything chambered for .410?

I was looking at the judge several months ago... But then again, I also want to have a NFA weapon... Just so I can say I have one... lol Besides, the judge doesn't break open! lol

I guess you need to be the judge. There is plenty out there regarding this topic.

IMO the smooth bore makes it undesirable, especially a sawed off job.

I am curious myself.
I sometimes consider the Taurus MODEL 44 TEN .45/.410. It has a 61/2 “ barrel.

I would probably stick to birdshot and slugs anyways, just curious... lol It would only be used for fun out in the woods or on the range anyways... lol

I've heard you can put a .45LC in a .454; and you can put .410 in .45LC... So wouldn't it make sense for a .454 to fire all three rounds?

I would assume a .454 would shoot all three. The .45LC and .454 are the same round with exception to power. I guess .454 is a like a magnum round.

I thought you wanted to push a .45LC through a .410. I personally wouldn't do it. Although I've heard of it being done. Just rumor though on my end.

No, sorry for the misunderstanding on that one... I was just going to use slugs in it... A .410 slug would be less powerful than the .45LC, but probably more manageable... lol I want to be able to shoot it all day and not break my wrist... That and I just think it would look cool... A single shot .410 sawed off shotgun? Nobody does that! I proud myself on my uniqueness...

To answer one of your questions, yes you can carry an NFA shotgun with a PA LTCF.

a 410 from a long barel has more power than a 44 magnum at closer ranges.

frankly, if you are going to spend the $200 on the making tax, dont do anything less than a 12 or 20 ga...12 ga has a LOT of ammo choices, from mini shotshells to light trap loads to 3" mag slugs...you can always find something to fit your recoil sensitivity.

you will get bored and annoyed with a 410 SBS real quick, and wonder why you bothered...I've shot one, meh.

also, when picking a platform, pick a modern gun that is still in production, lat thing you want is a old out of production gun that breaks and you cant get parts.
