Default question about building nfa

What would it take to design and manufacture an nfa item(pistol buttstock) for personal use and marketing? I mean what kind of paper work am I looking at? Are there prereqiusets?

Default Re: question about building nfa

you wont need to get a 02/07 License to manufacture a buttstock, but you WILL need to at least register a single testbed pistol as an SBR to test fit and such...unless you can hook up with a licensed MFG to help test/share the costs.

the buttstock is not the NFA item, the pistol to SBR is the NFA item

So, the cost is $200 to register the test pistol as an SBR, or the SOT license fee(which i THINK is $500 or so), plus ITAR fees ($1750 yr) to be a manufacturer of NFA items.

add on business costs (patents? manufacturing /supplies/etc) or corp fee and MFG costs when you finally get a product ready for manufacture.

which is cheaper
