Question about CLEO Signature

Does the CLEO signature have to be from the County or the Local Chief Law Enforcement Officer, or either?

I always read it as the "Local CLEO", which to me meant my townships Chief of police. Is that correct?

I live in Peters Township, which is in Washington County.
So could I have either Sign?

The CLEO is defined as the one who has jurisdiction over your permanent residence. A call to your local township PD and they should be able to answer whether or not they can sign off but if you live within their jurisdiction you should be fine. Heck, if you had a bad reputation or other issues they would probably know better than the county! I would present either with all of your completed paperwork that goes with the Application process. I even included my check in the packet that I presented for their review.

county sheriff
local district attorney
local judge the presides over felony trials
the state police
the PA Attorney General

If one wont sign, try one of the others. The top four in the list above are about the only ones that will.

Im just beginning to read all about the process and figure out what I want to do.

I think im going to get an AR lower and send it to be engraved first, then doing the paperwork.
That will give me time to decide what I want and not be impatiently waiting for my stamp
