[quote=Tootie;959270]Well smarty pants it says a man from Tobyhanna, I just now get to add Long Pond to the Do Not Go To Without Heavy Armor list. QUOTE]

And I bet he was from PCP. And I hope you have Mt effort added to that list.

I used to do plowing for several businesses there and the scum I would have to deal with in those shopping center parking lots early in the AM, made PCP look calm.

Mt Effort is my home base. Not too bad here but you just gotta keep an eye out, serious criminals do live and operate in the area.

Hey Cabin, are they beginning to infiltrate IML or is that place safe for now? seems as if all the gated communities are being ruined at an alarming rate.

I have to feel bad for the good people who have lived in those places for a long time as they have to be loosing money when they go to sell.

The dregs move in and the little dregs end up going to Pocono Mountain West. Have you ever seen the element in that school? I shiver at the thought of going there when my son has a basketball game there.

25 years I have been here and if you told me back then that the area would be like it is today I would have told you that you were full of shit. Boy, would I have been wrong.

So then you are familier with the mt effort plaza right across from the diner. The previous owner was one of my customers and early in the morning they were in the cars selling their drugs. As i was trying to plow they would not move, I had them yell at me to leave if I knew what was good for me. Calling the state police was a waste because they were so short handed and busy.

Many times I just became fed up and ended plowing the snow against their cars and waited with firearm in hand to see what their next move was. For the most part they would just speed off as they were threatening me from inside their cars.

IML is relatively safe and clean from what I've experienced so far. There was an armed home invasion/hostage situation a few years ago, and last summer a black guy in a mini-van was driving around the neighborhood trying to snatch little kids. Other then that I haven't seen or heard of much, I'm sure it exists though. If IML didn't belong to a HOA I would move there in a heart beat.

Don't forget the hunter who was murdered off Hypsie Gap Road two or so years ago. And, IIRC, there was at least one other body found along either Hypsie Gap or Kuhenbeaker Rd. Which is a damn shame. That's some EXTREMELY neat territory down that way. I usually take at least one training class down that way for work each year. Some half decent hunting land, too.

With that said, in light of the urban spill over into my solitude, I usually carry a sidearm along w/ my longarm. Wish I could carry at work.

Married? Seriously now where the heck did you hear that rumor.

But yes it is so fucking sad what has happened to this area. When we moved up here in 1986 people said "why in god's name do you want to live way out there" and the first place we lived was Tobyhanna. That's back when they still sold the t-shirts that said "where the hell is Tobyhanna" and man it was beautiful.

I will never forget our first night up here, we couldn't believe how dark it was at night (used to the Jersey 'glow') .. it was really REALLY strange.

When we moved down to Barrett township (I think about 1988) we literally didn't bother to lock the doors. Barrett Township had one cop (Chief Labar) and one squad car ... now we have 15 cops, our own jail, all cops carry tazers and carry ARs in the squad cars, a police dog and god knows what else. I know our chief pretty well (Steve Williams) and while our crime in this area is low I certainly understand why he is outfitting the force for war ....

fucking sad if you ask me.

I live walking distance to the track..... That being said, I have rifles sighted to certain distances on the property, much less what's at my disposal inside.
