Default State Legislature passes gun-control bill

http://www.philly.com/inquirer/local...trol_bill.html

From the article:

Quote:
The two measures in the bill, called minor by gun-control supporters, were nonetheless hailed as an important step in a new working relationship between the National Rifle Association and urban lawmakers.

One part of the bill would compel police departments to trace all illegal firearms confiscated from those under the age of 21 and report the guns to a state-police-run registry. The other would expand the definition of firearm under state law to include long-guns such as rifles and shotguns, providing more uniform application of state law.

First off, the NRA is a bunch of traitors. Second off, how significant is the definition of "firearm" here in PA? Is this going to effectively ban face-to-face transfers of long guns? Oh boy...

the bill only changes the defintion of "firearm" for a very specific portion of the law that deals with stealing guns. it is now the same degree of a crime to steal a long gun as a hand gun.

the definition of "firearms" for purposes of carrying and selling them remains unchanged.
