Armed America Documentary Video up on YouTube

Some of you know that for the past two years I've been working on a book called <a href="http://www.armedamerica.org">Armed America</a> which features several people from PAFOA. During the last two weeks of the portrait road-trip videographer Cora Benesh was with my assistant Phil and I and she's produced a fantastic video about the trip, including interviews with some of the people we photographed and footage of some of the portrait sessions. The book was published by F+W and is in bookstores now.

Congrats on the book! I saw a post about this on arfcom, a fellow named Ry is in the book with his AR15. Great video too! If I buy the book, can I get it autographed??

Wasn't sure what to expect when I came across this thread (hadn't heard of the book before), but even in watching the video, I definitely learned something.

I know what MY friends look like (got in to gun ownership in my early 20's) who own guns, and we know what it was that got us interested. I know what folks at gun shows look like (doesn't matter WHERE or WHEN on gun shows the past 20 years or so - I don't mean it in a derogatory sense, but there is a 'sameness' about folks at the gun show. Maybe it's just because none of us is really used to being SURROUNDED by REAL AMERICANS in this day & age, and so we're taken aback a bit when we ARE!), and that puts an image in your mind of what a 'normal' gun owner looks like, but this video surprised me in a pleasant way, and gives me HOPE, actually, that there perhaps are indeed, MORE of us, than there are of 'them (those who desire to DISarm us in America),' and that's a reassuring feeling.

Because the press is universally against us, you can feel awfully lonely at times (especially between gun shows!!!). I think I'll add this book to my library now - I could use some more good reading...

I thought I saw Danp in the video, then confirmed it on your site Kyle, who else from the PAFOA is in the book I wonder.

I believe Diego (LorDiego) is in the book as well; at least, he had his pic taken by Kyle. See here:

I had ordered the book several months ago and received it when it was first released. The book/photos are great and my fav's are of danp and LorDiego, well who else did you expect me to say, lol!

One excerpt which I thought was funny is below; emphasis added by me. Note that this is probably the closest thing I saw to a negative comment in all of the reviews; overall the reviews were extremely positive.

If there are low points in _Armed America_, its when Kyles let the subjects indulge in some wish fulfillment, and let them pose theatrically, with lighting and set design. Im thinking of another Dan looking like Michael Corleone, or Patrick dressed like Wild West Show trick-shot. Theyre fine photos, and theres probably no more than three or four in the entire book, but they violate the rest of the project because they show more of what the subject wants to be more than what he is in his everyday life.
