Default Targets of Criticism: Steelers' shooting party with state police under fire

    Oh, brother:

    http://www.philly.com/dailynews/top_...CRITICISM.html

The pictures are not good -- goofing around, pointing guns at each other etc. Expect the usual high dudgeon from the anti-gun crowd.

Default Steelers and State Police Criticized for Shooting Party at SP Range

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...for-gun-party/

Yes they had some Epic Fails on gun safety at the range - but the Steelers team members should not be held accountable for the source of the guns provided by the SP.

MSNBC can't help but interject their anti-gun sentiment into the story.

    Default Steelers gun party

This is just f*ed up. Two of them are goofing off and pointing them at other people. I know it is old but the news media just seemed to pick it up. Allegedly, they are "illegal" firearms that were borrowed from evidence.

Nobody ever said you had to be smart to play Professional Football now did they?

This pretty much demostrates that fact.

This proves that the police can't be trusted with firearms, right? Sauce for the goose.

so, if the weapons weren't evidence in an active case, and were still in PSP custody and supervision, were they really illegal to shoot?

sounds like, with the proper authorizations it could have been just fine!

I would like to know who this "official" is...

Said one state police official: "It's a state police firing range used for state police to train. When we're there, it's downright military. But at this event, it's chaos. Everybody's throwing contraband assault weapons around like they're toys; it's like they're having G.I. Joe tryouts. Not only is this totally unethical, but it's totally illegal."

I, along with my fellow firearms instructors, run a safe range. Downright military? Not sure where he shoots but none of my range sessions in seventeen years could be called that.

Contraband assault weapons? Where? The only rifle I see is a Colt 6520 out of the weapons locker. That is a property tag on the rifle, not an evidence tag.

    Totally illegal? Really, where?

It's a shame this state police official does not have the courage to back his statement with his name and rank.

I am disheartened by the pictures of unsafe gun handling. We all know better than that, or at least we should.

    Ok here we go somemore............

This is from 2006 and its just NOW making the news??

And its from a PHILADELPHIA based paper???

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot anyone?

I just wish the Staties would do an open range day for the general public, but under more controled conditions that these pictures show.
    gotta love her ;)
