Unfortunately, despite the fact that it would be a valuable learning experience for everyone to understand the precise facts and circumstances from both a tactical and legal point of view, it's not a good idea for whomever was involved to reveal his identity here.

An astute ADA or cop would look at every post that person ever made and if any were made using hyperbole or puffery or just part of customary debate on a particular issue, it could easily be used to try to show something that wasn't true.

Sorry, but that's the sort of world we live in. The gov't is not your friend and is not here to help if it can find some way to charge you with something. I wouldn't expect whomever it was to reveal that here and FWIW, would advise him not to.

+1 for the good guys. I wonder how it would have turned out if the renter had not been armed and had not drawn. Obviously the intruder was willing to visit violence on anyone he had to to achieve his goals.
