Multiple people were shot at a Wendy's in West Palm Beach on Monday.

WEST PALM BEACH (CBS4) ― Five people were shot at a Wendy's restaurant in West Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach Sheriff's Office said shortly after noon, a man with a gun walked into the restaurant in the 13-hundred block of Military Trail and started shooting. CBS 4 news partners at CNN five people were shot, two killed. Two other people sustained minor injuries.

The county's Trauma Hawk air rescue helicopters transported the other three shooting victims to area hospitals. They were listed in critical condition.

After the shooting, the gunman turned the gun on himself and took his own life.

The sheriff's department has not said what may have prompted the shooting.

Instead of asking what may have prompted the shooting, we all should wonder why there were no others there to return fire.

Where were the police that were supposed to protect them? Minutes away, as usual. How many more people have to die before the populous realizes they and they alone are responsible for their own safety?

I wish that one of these times a ccw holder would be there and that he/she would have the opportunity to end the situation before a bunch of people got shot.

I don't know about the rest of ya here on these forums, but I will now rethink on where I sit in a fast food joint. I will start to prefer sitting facing towards the doors, so I have a clear shot if needed.
