According to the article, "The shooting was the fourth at a U.S. school within a week."

I'd hope that law enforcement is studying this (what does homeland security do anyway -- the shooter was a terrorist in every sense of the word).

One thing is certain -- schools as gun free victims only zones are not safe places to be. While acknowledging the tragedy, my hope is that one of the families sues the school for its policies of rendering everyone on its campus as helpless victims. At least it could make some good to come out of a tragedy -- help to ensure these shootings stop by giving these nutcases notice that a school is not a pidgeon shoot.

The alternative would be to have several armed guards in every school (and make sure they don't flip out). Might have to set up a "school marshal" system similar to the air marshal system. Or just let responsible students and teachers carry their own guns.

We could go on and on about IL's firearms laws and the stupidity of "Gun Free Zones" but really.....

Credit where credit is due: The campus police managed to protect the student body from nasty graffiti.

This morning the question being asked on Good Morning America is, "How could this happen again?" They are serious when they ask. They cannot fathom that taking personal responsibility will end the reign of terror.

One of the interviewees stated that it was sickening to watch the gunman calmly reloading. (Of course he is calm. You don't have a gun.) They do not think of doing anything to defend themselves. This dimbulb is busy watching the guy reloading instead of hitting the guy with a chair.

As long as they create target rich opportunities there will be terrorist activity.

CHECK THIS OUT. On Fox News Radio, This is verbatim:

I have the recording. Satellite radio.

Quote:
I"m Lisa Mazcera. A link between the school shooting in northern Illinois University and the Virginia Tech killings. The shooters used the same website to buy guns and ammo. "I think she was as much as shocked as everybody else was, but, what are the chances?," Eric Thompson works for the website. The Illinois shooter bought two Glock magazines and a holster from the dealer.

I hate to say it but here it goes. This is why people who are mentally unstable or on pscyh meds should not have access to weapons. I know its the minority opinion but it's also my opinion.

I just read that the shooter had been institutionalized by his parents for at about a year and was discharged by the military under odd circumstances (not sure of the details there). If that's true, Illinois state police screwed up when they issued him an FOID and OK'd his background check.

It goes deeper than just being on psych meds. Under current law, it looks like there's no way he should have been able to just walk in a store and buy.

Looks like there are some students who want to do something about the the lack of security on campus.

IMO, Just being institutionalized should have been grounds for denial, add in the bad discahrge, and all the other stuf, no way he should have been able to just walk in and buy a gun.

we don't need more gun laws, just better enforcement of the ones we have in my opinion.

And where did this happen again....in ILLINOIS!!! One of the states with the HIGHEST level of gun laws in the US.

Dumb ass politicians...

"We took away their right to carry, we made it a "gun free zone"..and it still happened. Guess we'll have to use harsher language to say "no guns here" and see if that stops murders from committing weapons violations."

Anyone know of a good militia to join? This country is headed down the shitter....
