Exactly, a 'Gun Free Zone' aka 'a relatively safe place to commit a crime because people who follow the rules wont have their gun so the criminal can bring his and do as he pleases until one of those horrible gun rights activist illegally brings his gun and defends himself in which case he'll be the bad guy and the real bad guy will then be the victim'

That's how society seems to wanna work these days.....

Well, the good guy didn't bring his gun illegally to the mall. He violated their rules, but that wasn't illegal. Beyond that, unfortunately, you're more or less correct.
