PLUM, Pa. -- Police have asked the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office to determine whether a man should be charged with shooting an intruder in his home.
Police said 68-year-old James Bodnar told them he shot the man in both legs when he tried to enter Bodnar's Pembrooke Court apartment at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police believe the alleged intruder, 21-year-old Justin Jones of Auburn, N.Y., was likely trying to enter his ex-girlfriend's apartment in the same complex. Bodnar opened the door and showed Jones the gun after Jones tried to kick in the door, then he shot Jones when the man still tried to come inside, police said. Jones remains hospitalized at UPMC Presbyterian. Police Chief Frank Monaco says charges are pending against him. Link to the story: http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/...35/detail.html Guy may face charges because he opened the door and told the guy to leave rather than let the intruder break down his door.

FYI, the Chief is a recently retired brass from PSP, I doubt he is going to make a call on something that he can have the DA's office do for him. Just food for thought.

WTF Plum? So as this perp was forcing his way in to the mans apt. where were the cops? Oh! That's right, I'm supposed to be a good victim. I'd be willing to bet the perp had a PFA against him.

I doubt that... I seem to remember reading an article somewhere on this website that PSP was the driving force behind not recognizing out of state carry permits even though the legislature said they are legit. PSP charged the person for carrying a firearm anyway. PLUS, PSP brass rarely see any action or respond to calls. If he was a higher up, chances are he hasnt been to a call for service in years.

If there is no more to the story (Eg, the shooting was righteous by normal human being standards) and if the chief is indeed retired PSP, it explains it. The PSP, as an institution, is somewhat evil.

I got what you meant, Sarge. Im saying I doubt he will take the position of neutrality. I think that he will want to go after the poor guy, doing what he needs to do, with with D.A.
