Hey, I haven't attached an IV to my arm.(yet) I had to go get lunch!

Good to see that you kids remembered what you learned about saying "clip"!

yeah, really....I thought anyone could walk into a gun show, and walk out with a gun...no background check
Yup. That's EXACTLY what many people think when they hear the word "gun show".
"Gun show" equals rednecks and criminals meeting in a parking lot to sell "machine guns" out of the trunk of their cars.

Some people just need smacked upside the head.

just a note to possibly clear up some confusion.

the so-called "gun show loophole" the brady bunch likes to point to is actually just the fact that a private individual (non-FFL holder) can sell a gun to another private individual face-to-face without a background check. (in PA, this only applies to long guns, but i think there are some states where it also applies to handguns.)

such a private "face-to-face" (or FTF) sale can happen at a gun show if you are not buying from an FFL (an FFL holder always has to do a background check). there was a day when there were many private sellers at gun shows (seems to not be the case so much anymore), so these types of sales were not uncommon at gun shows.

the brady bunch apparently either:

1. didn't/doesn't realize that these private FTF sales can go on anytime, not just at gun shows...and, therefore, if they were going to wrongly call it a "loophole" they should have called it the "private transfer loophole".

2. thought the name "gun show loophole" sounded much scarier than "private transfer loophole" so they went with that instead in their typical fashion of misinformative emotion-based scare tactics.

It is more likely to happen at a gun show with all the dowel-rod flags walking around. I walked around with a sign on my shirt when I was trying to sell a barrel. It was funny seeing people from across the way squinting at my sign trying to read it.

The thing that really worries me is, this guy was actually cited for drinking a beer on his own property. Is it actually illegal to drink a alcholic beverage on your porch whithin city limits???

I always thought it was legal to have an open container on your own property, or other private property with the owners consent. A public sidewalk in front of your house is probably a different story, but this guy was supposedly on his porch. It may be a law specific to Philadelphia and some other municipalities. If that's the case, there's another reason I'm glad I don't live there.

Later that day I ran into the same officer and asked him what it was about. He said the guy had an outstanding warrent in Phila. for failure to appear. He said it was for a citation for having an open container of beer while sitting on his front porch inside the city limits.

I already drafted a proposed bill and sent it to my State Representative:

HB111: Philadelphia is for sale. Starting price is $1. New Jersey gets first dibs.

No word yet on when this will hit the Committee.

Heck, I'd contribute to a fund to get someone to take Philly......

Hey NJ here's $XXXXXXX, you can have it, if you annex Philly....
