Default Maryland passes new law.

Heard this on the radio on my way to work this morning. Before you buy a handgun now in the state of maryland , They have to have access to your health records. Specifically mental health records. In the wake of the recent college shootings.
You must have a permission slip from your doctor bfore you can even think about getting one.

The scariest part is I wonder how many of us would pass this test. I hate to say it, but I failed the psychological test for state prisons when I first took it. They said I have a tendency to be overly aggressive. (Can you imagine that). Anyway I had to take a follow up to show that I can control my aggressive nature . YES, I PASSED. But I wonder if technicallly this would have kept me from getting a hand gun in Maryland now.

Oh, I wasn't the only one that failed. There was 3 of us there. So, I didn't feel real bad. I asked him why I failed. He said it was most likely due to my past history. Martial Arts Training, Marine Corps, Bouncer in a bar, Police Officer.... All these occupations have programed me to be aggressive to defend myself. Hmmm, guess these stupid test have a bit of merit to them after all.

I guess no hope of Maryland becoming shall issue any time soon

Aside from being honest about your job history and previous training, was the test something that could be passed by telling them what they wanted to hear?

In other words, do you think it was an objective evaluation of your state of mind or that once you knew what the expected answers were, you could play along to pass the second time around?

I sometimes get a chuckle out of the screening process various industries use to select suitable candidates. Steven Spielberg was denied admission to both "UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television" and "USC School of Cinematic Arts" because neither thought he had sufficient potential. Kudos to both organizations for having their filters set in such a fashion that they couldn't identify the future highest grossing filmmaker of all time as a possible candidate for admission.

It is the basic 500 questions nut test that they give out to anyone that they want to find out if they are wound to tight. A lot of questions are repeated but in a different way. Lots of questions that you wonder how you should answer. Some questions you stared at and went.... WHATTT!!!

Would you rather paint a picture or plant a flower?

Have you ever been so mad at your parents that you wished your mom was dead?

Would you rather be a painter or a pilot?

Have you ever stomped on ants. (OK maybe that wasn't one, but you get the idea)

And on and one and on.................................

So, you need a doctor's note just to practice your god given right in Maryland?

I knew there was a reason I hated Maryland.

This better not be a prequel to PA laws in the future.

Anyone got a link to actual law passed? I have a few friends down there to pass this on to.

You know, with the amount of "mental health" diognosis's these days, it will be that almost everyone "is not thinking correctly" and wont be allowed to purchase a gun.

Welcome to the new USSR.

Heinous. So, in Maryland, your right to bear arms isn't a right, it's only a condition of giving up your right to privacy of your medical records. This will only injure good people, and save no one. If you're not too picky about the law, you'll find a piece and do the crime anyway. Crazy or not.
