Default Low volume dealers losing licenses?

Anyone have any facts relating to the rumor that ATF isn't renewing low volume dealer's licenses? I read they require proof of 500 sales or no renewal.

Doesn't sound right, but one never can tell these days.

My dealer is part time, although he has an SOT, I highly doubt he sells 50 a year. Someone had mentioned in another post that the number of gun dealers has been cut in half over the last twenty years, or something along those lines.

I haven't heard of anything, but seeing how the ATF's style of making policy decisions seems to involve a dice roll who knows.

The classic catch 22 with FFLs is this:

If you sell too many guns, the ATF yells at you for not having an FFL.
If you get an FFL and don't sell enough guns, they yell at you for being a hobby FFL.

'too many' and 'not enough' are most likely determined through a process such as throwing darts, rolling dice, or picking lottery numbers.
