I had the fortune to meet Professor Barnett and hear him speak at the Cato Institute Summer Seminar in 2000; I later wrote a critical article on his philosophy of government for the Gonzaga Law Review (if anyone cares). There is probably no greater friend to individual liberty in tenured academia today than Randy Barnett.
